Blue mountains in Iceland
Hi, i ran into this forum today on google, seems to have people that do my kind of ridin.
I got my license last summer and have been hooked ever since. I currently dont own a motorcycle but my father owns two, well he bought one for my mom, just as an exscuse to buy another one . He owns a ST1300 which he rides, and (moms) is a Triumph tropy 900, which i ride most of the time. Right now i´m lookin to buy my own bike, but i want something that has plenty of power, good looking and is a decent tourer, so i´m lookin at a busa, blackbird or a zx-14. It is not a walk in the park to choose a bike when ur 6´8. My dad and i went for a quick ride three weeks ago up to Bluemountain ski resort in Iceland, and man it was cold, -2C° like 30F° i think. We had to ride over ice to get to the spot where we took the pictures. But its a nice road up there, same road as yamaha shot their photos of the MT-01 debut. But here are a few photos, and many more from Iceland this summer

Thanks for posting!
It's always neat to see other parts of the world. I hope you can take some more pictures of different roads around Iceland so we can get a feel of what it's like to ride a motorcycle there

Re: Blue mountains in Iceland
Hi,
We cant really ride all year long, but somewhat around 8months of the year, there are some days that u can ride in february like, when i took those first pictures. But its really cold. Most people start riding in end of April though. There are plenty of roads to ride on, i mean Iceland is similar size to England. But the roads are not of much quality, but they are curvie and fun to ride. If you guys are planing a trip to ride here, the best time would be in July, that is the warmest month. Here is a link on the ferie that goes from Scrabster, Scotaland and Bergen, Norway, among other places to Iceland http://www.smyril-line.com/ |

Iceland?! Oh my... wow. This is great. I have seen rally car type racing from there on the tube, but never thought much about bikes. Can't wait to see some more from this rarely seen part of the world, especially from a 2 wheel perspective.

Re: Blue mountains in Iceland
Yeah, i did the other day, and i was surprised how much it looks like Iceland, i thought there were more trees there though. Our trees have still not recovered since the viking centuries.
But yeah if anyone wants to plan a trip, i´ll be more than happy to ride with you. Kiddi |

So how long would a "Tour of Iceland" take if you had time to ride all the nice roads in Iceland?
wow The total length of the Ring Road around Iceland (national highway) is 1.339 km.That would take 4 or 5 days! Are there hotels all the way around the ring road? Do you suffer from flat tires due to some of the gravel roads? |
