Well I just had to post this one.
Where were you when you hit 80,000 miles ??? This is a pic of my 2001 Suzuki Hayabusa and she has 80,000 miles on her clock in less than 4-years. Keep in mind that she has only been on a long freeway ride twice. Once to Pismo and the other to Laguna 03 for the Superbike races. Every other mile has been spent in the twistys. Although she has seen a few track days at Laguna, Thunderhill & Willow Springs. She was bought on "D-Day" (June 6, 2001). Heres why I got her >>>> After being lucky enough to be able to ride one on the track (Laguna) in 1999 I was impressed on the way it performed. I waited until they made the right color and I saved enough cash-ola in 2001 I was ready to get her.She has been a great bike for me. With 80,000 miles it still has the stock clutches. Whitch just blows me away as I ride her hard sometimes. I even hit the quarter mile a few times and that kills clutches fast. I just did an oil change and while I was pulling things apart decided to have a look at the clutch plates and they looked brand new ?? Strange I plan to ride her until she drops .I want to SEE just how many miles I can stack on her before she needs a complete rebuild. ![]() So if your in the 559 area code and want to ride look us up: www.AboutBikes.net |

It's almost broken in and I hope before it turns 4 it will finally be ready to really put some RPM's on it and not treat it like a new bike - hehehe. Congratulations on your mileage and enjoy your bike for a long long time! DaleC |

That's really cool, JC! Obviously you have quite the passion for our Sierra roads. Sounds like that Busa is treating you really well (as would make sense, since you do the same). Thanks for sharing!

Thanks folks for the comments.I just LOVE to ride When I coach I don't ask how many years have you been riding ?. I ask how many miles do you think you have logged in the seat ? Seat time is what it's all about. |

Re: 80,000 miles on a 2001 Hayabusa
XCELR8R,
That's really quite an impressive figure when you consider you've never taken it on a long ride. To put things in perspective, I bought my '04 Wing on March 16, 2004. It now has just a hair over 20,000 miles on it, almost 14 months later. Take into account that 13,000 miles of that 20K was logged in a 30-day period (story is in the Rides forum), which leaves a balance of 7,000 miles spread out over the other 13 months. Also consider that I won the high mileage contest at my dealership with 18,100 miles last August. The down side of that is that I have only ridden 2000 miles since last August, which has been 9 months now (we have something called winter here). That's one heck of a pace!
