Dual Sport ride in Eastern Washington
Eastern WA State is a vast very varied ( if there is such a term) geographic wonder. Today we were in a canyon in a dry lake area which was formed when the big Montana flood blew threw here 10,000 years ago.
All of this wonder is less than 50 miles from my front door in downtown Spokane (empty nesters sold the big house with the big yard) - no grass to cut etc. I'm posting pictures of just a few things we saw today - the box car was one of three that look like they've been there for 50 or more years - - We found a vacated railroad line which had a gate closing it off to motorize vehicles but someone had opened for us and allowed us through. It went for miles - no traffic, nothing but scenery =- the beat up bridge was pretty hairy - it spanned a river that must have been 300 feet below us. We had to go through tunnels to get to it -on the other side was a massive slide that forced us to turn back - A great spring day in EA WA. Steve ![]() ![]() ![]()

I agree! More photos please! Wow! That bridge makes me dizzy just looking at the photo. Can't even imagine riding across that thing.

Awkkkk...that means you had to turn around and go back over that (achmmm, loosly translated) bridge???? NO WAY...you would have had to pry my fingers from the front brake to get the Sprint to move. Heights and narrow wooden bridges are my phobia...BIG TIME. I'd be calling Dudly DooRight for rescue or "gary honey, would you please take my bike for me and then blindfold me and put me on a gurney and let me know when we are across...." We are talking major PHOBIA....

Re: Dual Sport ride
Are you sure it was not in NZ? All the bridges are like that there. And they're only one way bridges. OK, well, that's a not exactly true, I hope Pashnit Kiwis will not take it badly. I had a great time there (South Island), including when I did have to cross a few bridges like that.

Re: Dual Sport ride
we did have to turn around due to the slide just a 1/4 mile up the road at the end of the next tunnel - the bridge looks worse than it was - I wish I had more pictures. I ride with guys that rarely stop long enough for anyone to take pictures - I just decided I had to take these with my cheapo camera phone - the quality isn't so great but I got them, that's what's important. Now my buddies want me to have them printed - call that chutzpah!!!
