Re: Beautiful. A Pashnit Tour of Coastal California.
50 / 50 - Sportbikes, Harleys, Ducati's, the Drifter in the back- that's Pashnit.
![]() A little bonus loop at the end of the day was Turri Rd. This is a short ride outside Morro Bay- quite swoopy, deserted, and you guessed it- Beautiful. Nearby is another fun ride- Perfumo Canyon Rd, but not enough daylight left for that one. ![]()

![]() The sun began to set, and I got the right light I needed to shoot this road. Everything glows in this light. ![]() ![]() Plus I finally got the light I was waiting for to shoot the BMW K1200S. My magazine cover. ![]() Version 2

Re: Beautiful. A Pashnit Tour of Coastal California.
Just beyond these hills is the Pacific Ocean.
![]() These low hills are called the 'Seven Sisters' for their close relations to one another- a series of low peaks up to 2500 feet tall that surround the San Luis Obsipo area. ![]() Add in a bike. ![]() Always shoot at least two. On the other side of this hill to the right is San Luis Obispo.

Re: Beautiful. A Pashnit Tour of Coastal California.
Last shot of Day 1 - watching the sun go down. Just enough time to high-tail in back to the hotel and jump in the Jacuzzi!

Day 2
![]() Tepusquet Rd is a personal favorite. Think goat trail with brand new silky smooth pavement. Dreamy stuff. Give you a general idea, this is this ascent on the northen end.

Re: Beautiful. A Pashnit Tour of Coastal California.
Destination: Solvang to check out the Motorcycle Museum. Quite a few of the riders had never been there. Here's Mark checkin' in. Could spend hours in here just photographing bolts and speedos and valve stems. You always see something new.
![]() No, the Triumph Speed Triple is not the first one to use two bike headlights out front. ![]() The plaque reads: "1932 Brough Superior. in the early 30's, the best and fastest motorcycles were my by George Brough in England. Lawrence of Arabia was killed on a Brough Superior SS100. This model as a small JAP (no, not Japanese - J.A. Prestwick of England) engine - 680cc instead of the 1000cc. In 1936 Vincent came out with their own V-twin engine, and relegated the Brough to #2." ![]() The plaque reads: "1957 Maico Typhoon. Maico, a German manufacture, made mostly off-road motocross bikes. This is a fairly rare (I haven't seen another one) road model with a 400cc two-stroke twin engine. Notice all the art that went into the fenders, engine and enclosure. The engine castings are even made to flow into the bodywork." ![]() More photo are here of the bikes in the Museum--> http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17 Continued on page 3 --> |
