700 Miles on a Kawasaki Ninja 250 - A motorcyclist's review

Let me introduce myself. I am the owner of the 250 Tim so eloquently described. I was happy to loan Tim my bike so that he could continue on this way. And the fact that he accepted demonstrated his professionalism and good nature.

This story brings a smile to my face, envy to my heart and a tear to my eye.

You see, I love Daisy, my little yellow Ninja. She carried me over 7000 miles in my first year of riding. From throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains, down to Coalinga and up into the Sierra's.

The one trip I did not take was down HW1 and into the California central coast where I attended college in SLO. But, my little yellow bike made the trip. And from Tim’s trip report, she had a good time, provider her rider with some fun as well as challenges and held her own against the big boys. You go Daisy!!

But alias, I have purchased a new bike and Daisy is for sale. But, I have to admit reading this report gives me pause. Maybe I’ll keep her and make that trip down the coast…….

I believe it's not what you ride, but how you ride it. The whole point is to get out and enjoy the roads. I may ride a rolling recliner, but for me, it's being out there that counts. Just be safe and enloy.

Sue- your graciousness and generosity is beyond anyone's expectations! That you loaned your bike to someone you just met is huge and really speaks to your character. What an awesome, selfless act!

Good write up Tim. I need to get my 18 year old daughter, Sarah, to read it. She recently said, "...face it Dad, I'm going to learn to ride and get a bike. It's in my blood. What did you expect? I think I'll start small, maybe an R6." What few hairs I have left started jumping ship. I think this little 250 is the perfect bike for a kid just starting out. Anything with two wheels and a motor is fun...I just have to convince Sarah.

I don't think a man should ride around too much on on a little yellow motorcycle named Daisy. It would probably suck the strength right out of him.
Kind of like when Superman hangs out around kryptonite too long. I had a similar experience in a potpourri store. It was awful. My insurance company wouldn't pay for the ambulance ride and they made me pay for the candle display I knocked over while staggering out of the store.

I liked the article so much I just ran out and bought one of those baby ninjas. I plan on a yosemite trip before the valley gets too cold to be fun. Anyway, thank you for your exelent commentary on such a fun bike. You forgot to mention it gets 65MPG!! even with todays $3 a gallon it is still almost free to ride. Anyway, so far, I love it its my 100mph bicycle. Like you said, a true sportbike.
