Why we ride. A Pashnit Tour.

Why do you ride?

It was one of those blind-sides. A humdinger. She asked the question and it floated in the air, waiting for that snappy answer. That flowing wordsmith ladden arrangement of flowery juxtaposition that would somehow explain what it is.

The why. Why we do what we do.

Meanwhile, the TV camera atop its tripod sat patiently awaiting my response.

So it was, the usual suspects. The fast. The slow. The relaxed. The ones there to become immersed in that magic land of motorcycle travel.



A varied group of riders, with over half of them on the tour being riders Tim & I had ridden with before. This being their 2nd, 3rd, even 4th tour with us.

Robert had ridden down from British Columbia & Steve from Oregon (3rd, 4th ride? I'm losing track Steve!)



Al from Washington & the remainder hailed from all over California.

Richard flew in from Australia, Max came on over from England. Both of them on their 2nd ride.

Robert on the Ducati had ridden on the same tour one year prior with Max & Steve, The 10-Day MotoGP Tour, and were reunited on this ride.

The bikes of course were the usual varied pashnit sort.



Every color of the rainbow.

It's not a ride without a VStrom Or a large cruiser.





Do you need the fanciest latest hardware? Hell no.

[pashnit]

Though a few gadgets never hurt.

Looks as though Tim will be...
1. rockin' to some cool tunes (on his cassette tape )
2. never get a ticket
3. always know what the temperature is
4. and the time
5. can open his garage door from afar
6. always be warm
7. can ride right on through those pesky toll booths
8. oh and don't forget the reading glasses for reading those maps.

Tim, no GPS? Okay, okay, it's on order.

Within minutes, above the foggy marine layer, already in awe.



With a view that stretches for miles. This is Bolinas Ridge just north of San Francisco. Mt Tamalpias is short distance to the south of us.

The Panoramic. It's a sight to behold. Love this short stretch of road.

At left under that marine layer is the Pacific Ocean & Point Reyes.

In winter and Spring, these hills are a brilliant green layer of wavy grass. That tuff of land at top left is San Francisco.

Rest of that is all ocean.
