So have you heard about this fabled 22-mile stretch of pavement? Perfect smoothness. Tight curves. Two up-and-over mountain ranges. Non-stop curves? Heads from the Pacific Coast on over to Leggett- last bit of Hwy 1.

During the Memorial Day & June Sierra Nevada Ride, we do a bonus loop. Typically take a couple diehards with me while the rest head back to the hotel.

This time around, it was a ride on Mattole Rd, aka The Lost Coast.



It's the ulimate 50 mile goat trail, but I've always been a sucker for a good view.

Really can't get enough of scenes like this. Makes the goaty road all worth it.

Oddly enough, gotten a lot of email about Mattole Rd over the years. I've often gushed over this road only to be reprimanded for its remoteness and bumpy twisty forgotten quality. Will take goaty any day to drink in a scene like this.
