This is Gazelle Callahan Rd, a really relaxed ride up and over the range.




Past a couple ranches.



A few mountain tops.



A few enticing side roads. This is Rail Creek Rd. Heads off into those mountains. Dual-sports apply here.

The uphill

I know it's the NorCal Wonderland when we see this come clopping down the middle of the road.




He lived just around the bend in Callahan. Out for a morning stroll. Or clop. Ride actually.

Kevin seems to capture the moment well.

But why the dog pee'd on my bike, we'll never know. What's up with that.




Onward up Highway 3 & towards Weaverville. Fun road. Long, hyper, than relaxed. Good stuff.

What much of NorCal is like.

No, really. It isn't.




Now picture the shot of the creek above. Now add in this.

These are tailings. Mounds of rock left over from clam-shell dredging, all in the search for gold. This entire region of California is heavily ladden with gold. Much of it still remains in these creeks and rivers.



Craig though isn't much concerned with the tailings in the background. Just the ride.

A turn east onto Trinity Dam Blvd, and a quick ride over to Clair Engle Lake. A massive reservoir created in the reservoir building days of the 60's.
