Digital video help

I just got a Canon Optura 10 off eBay ($199) and would like to upload video to my computer. Can anyone advise me on what hardware, software, etc I might need to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Digital video help

check to see if the camera has an iLink/Firewire port - if it does, then you should be able to transfer video to any system running Firewire video capture drivers / software. A Mac would be easy - plug it in and bring up iMovie. PC's are a bit harder.

if there is no firewire port, then you'll probably be limited to still images or VERY short video snippets via USB or USB 2. Same caveats apply - macs will understand it natively, PC's will need relevant software and drivers to be able to talk to the camera.

The OTHER possibility is if the camera comes with a removeable flash media like a Memory Stick or other media card. For that, you need a device (Dazzle makes a few - some of HP's printers also have media card slots built in) that you can use to read the media. It'll come up on your computer as a removeable hard drive, and you can pull the video/stills into whatever application you prefer to use very easily.

Re: Digital video help

If you have a card reader on your computer that reads the media(flash card etc) just go

my computer

Drive (D, E etc)

Rightclick on the folde and a pick list will come up that has option like open etc. Click on copy

Right click on you computer folder where you want the photo to go (desk top etc) you will get the same pick list. Click on paste. It will paste a copy there.
