Redding to Shelter Cove and back

Just thought I post up about a great ride I was fortunate enough to participate in this weekend. About 10 riders left the Redding area and rode primarily off road to Shelter Cove, stayed the night and rode back though Covelo and the Mendicino Forrest the next day. We left each morning about 7am and got in around 5pm both days. Total trip mileage was a little over 500 miles. I'll try and include a picture or two right after I figure out how to resize them. The first pic is on Titlow Hill Rd, we came out of Hayfork on a dirt road to get there. The second one is looking off the balcony/staircase at the motel. The bikes all went inside the garage at night.

Quite an array of machines. One Suzuki DRZ400, one Yamaha WR450, an ATK, a Husky, a KTM 640 something, two KLRs, and a couple of BMWs, one F650 Dakar, and a $20K something HP2. And I have forgot one also. Must be tired.

Hmmmmmmm... I'm jealous! Look slike you guys had agreat ride. I can't wait to see more pics! Do you have a GPS route file you can share?

I don't, but I think every one of the other guys was running a GPS. I see if I can get one. If you don't hear back in a week or so, PM me 'cause I forgot.

I drove out there in the truck from Redway 3 weeks ago. That has to be the twistest and most up and down road we ever drove. Not much fun. But the coast is beautiful and worth the trip. Although I would never drag a RV trailer out there.

A couple more pics. One lane bridge on the way to Shelter Cove, and a couple shots of the ride shortly after leaving Shelter Cove the next morning. We rode almost due south along the coast (no matter how thick the trees were, you had that sense that the ocean was right there) until we met Hwy1.

Looks like you had a great ride !
I just went over to the coast on an overniter myself. We came home via 299 and then headed south to 36 by way of Titlow road. Great ride and superb views !

Okay so in the last two weeks I've been to Shelter Cove twice, one weekend on dual sports and the next weekend on streetbikes. The place we stayed is called the Tides Inn <www.ShelterCoveTidesInn.com> and the accomodations were great, including the garaged parking area-a nice treat.
