Great Camping Sites?

I'll be headed out on an epic ( epic for me at least) journey, from Maine to FL , west to CA through Ar/Co/Ut.. and all over..

What I don;t want to do is end up in "Jellystone" where ones falls asleep to the lullaby of the Interstate.. ( never have understood anyone "camping" in those places..

I'd like suggestions for camping sites along my path, down the Blue Ridge, across the country from FL to CO.. in the Sierras, along the CA coast north of SF, Hwy 39, Crater Lake.. the kind of place that isn;t too far off the road, but amazes one with the great sites and non-corporate atmosphere..

thanks...

Sounds pretty epic to me too!! Is Ar/Co/Ut Arizona or Arkanas? Can't help ya if it's Arkanas... Do you want 'improved campgrounds' or just places that you know it's legal to pitch a tent? Some times that makes a difference.

AR would be for Arkansas...

I've almost got a route map done that I could show... I'm sure that would help..

route 7 in Ark is a highlight...
