Anybody gone Tiger Creek Rd. to Bear River Reservoir?

I'm wondering what this route would be like for a newbie DS ride on my nearly new KLR...looking for easy riding, hopefully not paved and nice scenery.....Specifically: Start by exiting Highway 88 taking Tiger Creek Road to Salts Spring Reservoir Rd all the way up to Bear River Resrvoir....My map says 32 miles....Any and all input appreciated....

Thanks

Hi John,

The new KLR looks great! I have ridden that road before and it is just what you are looking for.

Have fun!
Gail

Re: Anybody gone Tiger Creek Rd. to Bear River Reservoir?

Gail you were right...It was just a perfect first adventure.....a few observations...

1) Gamin GPS mapsource is more correct than Delorme maps when it comes to what roads really exist.....

2) Cows are still as stoopid as when we sold our last bunch 12 years ago...

3) Packing an 18 year old's ideal lunch...salami and cheese sandwich, classic Coke and a Baby Ruth needs to be rethought when A) You are multiples of 18 years old B) it is over 95 degrees and you are nervous while riding a new bike coming down the ever curving Highway 88 from Bear River Reservoir....

4) Riding a small bike is nearly as much fun as it was when you were 18

5) Even a new and improved 2008 KLR has alot less power than a warmed up Harley...Pretty bad when you have to wait to for the passing lane to pass a Prius full of kids and campming gear.....

Total of 180 miles, driving average 35.8 mph, total time 4hr 50 min....50MPG and had more fun than those in the Prius....The hell with Al Gore!!!!

I'm ashamed of these picture comapred to most but farmers from Galt have never been known to be very proud, so here they are:

1) Typical shot of Tiger Creek Road...this is best, in places all dirt and a mix
2)Typical view south of road, Home to Mokulmne River
3) Here is Granny resting
4) I did too make it to Bear River Reservoir!
