AMA National Trials 8-4/5-07 - Photos
Saturday morning bright and early (almost) we headed up to Donner Ski Resort as we heard a rumor that it had snowed. There I go, off track again.
The AMA National Trials were this weekend at Donner. We arrive about 10:30am and picked up the group at the 3rd section. Some rules for spectators: Please stand outside the section boundry Please be careful not to knock rocks into a section (??) Do not talk to the riders Dogs must be on leash Do not assist a rider Then for the riders, they are scored by losing points: Footing once 1 point Footing twice 2 points Footing more than twice 3 points Failures Moving backwards 5 points Dead engine, with support 5 points Handlebars touch the ground 5 points There are more but you get the idea. Ok here we go. You will see two different angles on the pictures, Trudy stayed above the action for shots & I satyed down in the dirt & rocks to shoot looking up.

Sorry I missed you guys. Did breakfast Sat. AM at the Squeeze then headed out to Lassen. Stopped by the Ranch on my way home from Sac this afternoon and ran into GS Ron & one of his buds just leaving so we all went to Los Altos for lunch. I put in close to 600 miles though in between all the meals!
I wasn't into hiking up the mountain for $10! Figured that would at least include a lift ticket! Looks like fun and some pretty amazing riding going on. |

I remember the first photos I saw of my brother ("Inte" on this board) doing that stuff on his GasGas. Crazy stuff defies physics. You can climb straight up a tree on those bikes.

I am completely fascinated by this type or riding!! It does seem to defy gravity.
Losing points for putting your feet down sorta goes against the dirt-type riding, eh? This is certainly a horse of a different color. Nice to see this there... how did she do???

She did fine, obviously a new rider in the event as she took a fairly easy route (comparatively speaking) but did it very smoothly.

Great photos Bill - very neat thing to be able to watch. Also unique to be a spectator in a sport and be just inches away from the participants!
