Motorcycle Photography in HDR

Having just recently bought a bike, I'm trying to fine-tune my bike photogra-fu and even more my HDR bike photogra-fu. So, I took some shots of my own bike, which isn't exactly a head turner, but it's my first and I love it!

I'll definitely post more HDR bike photos as I take them, but all of y'all should do the same. HDR *rules* for motorcycle photography. Especially shiny stuff! Oh, and it rules for landscape stuff too, which makes it perfect for all those road trips that we're into around here. ;-)

Cool pics. They look like paintings. Love the effect.

Love the pics, Daniel, especially the first one. Lighting and bike placement looks "professional" & could easily pass for a magazine photo shoot.

The industry standard for HDR processing is Photomatix. With an educational discount it's only $15, but without it's like $100.

I highly recommend the Adobe CS2 & CS3 Shadow/Highlight filter also which is a tone-mapping filter. Tone mapping is a large part of the magic of HDR.

Honda CBR in HDR

Here's one I took today. I don't know who owns this, but I always pass by it when I'm coming into my parking garage. I was waiting for the perfect parking job to frame it with no cars on either side, but after a few weeks I realized that wasn't going to happen, so today I decided to photograph it as it was.

I really like those backgrounds. BTW, what does "HDR" stand for?

Re: Motorcycle Photography in HDR

In computer graphics and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) is a set of techniques that allows a far greater dynamic range of exposures (i.e. a large range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to the deepest shadows.
