TIPS: Photo Captions

I really enjoy looking at touring pics, but if there is one thing I can't stand or find frustrating, its a slew of endless photos with no captions.

No information as to where it was taken (what road), what I'm looking at, etc.

I liked Bradford's pics on the European Alps Ride thread and I recognized most of them. As for the other pics, I had some idea as to where, but without captions.... Then Daniel also had some great pics. Were a couple of them of the SS46 in the Rovereto area?

I find keeping track of that info is a no brainer.

You either need...
  • a camera with the audio snap feature,
  • a GPS where you can mark the locations of the pics,
  • or the good old notebook and pencil to jot things down.

I usually just speak into my camera after each shot with details and a waypoint number.

Sounds like a good idea to me depending on what your photos are going to be used for. SOme things may require this info while other things may not.

I think you hit the nail on the head though and it's not maybe seen here and that is a system that works for you.

And sometimes hard to do when you're pressed for time on a ride.
