Northern CA Riding -- 2004 & 2005 Photos -- Next Trip Fall 2008

I love my riding in Colorado (on either my 1800 Wing or my 06 FJR1300) with excursions into southern Utah and surrounding areas, but I also have an affinity for riding in northern California. I think it goes back to being stationed in Monterey in the early 70s and doing some of my first riding out that way. I've been fortunate to make several fall trips to northern CA over the past few years:

Fall 2001 -- Oakland (rented 01 Gold Wing) > Turlock (hooked up with old college buddy who planned the trip) > Yosemite > Tahoe > Lassen > Crater Lake > Coos Bay > Redwoods > Eureka > Lost Coast > Mendocino > Napa > Oakland; just loved the coastal mountains.

Fall 2003 -- Rode my 02 Gold Wing from Colorado > Sacramento > Turlock > Petaluma > Marin County riding > Turlock > Yosemite > Tonopah > ET Hwy > Cedar City > Cedar Breaks > Bryce > Escalante > Torrey > Blanding > Durango > Home; mostly visiting friends, but some great riding to do so.

Fall 2004 -- Rode out with a good friend and had an awesome 2-week trip; Colorado Springs (snowing on the mtn passes forced us to go south at first) > Alamosa > Antonito > LaManga Pass > Cumbres Pass > Chama > Farmington > Kayenta > Page > Kanab > Zion > Las Vegas > Bakersfield > Paso Robles > Monterey (several days riding around the Monterey area to include Big Sur, Hunter-Liggett, Carmel Valley, etc) > SF via Hwy 1 > 101 > Lost Coast > Eureka > Klamath-Trinity River Valleys (Big Foot Hwy) > O'brien > Crater Lake > Lava Beds > Lassen > Tahoe > Turlock > Yosemite > Tonopah > ET Hwy > Cedar City > Cedar Breaks > Bryce > Escalante > Torrey > Grand Junction > Home

Fall 2005 -- Rode out to Tahoe and stayed for a week with friends, riding as many of the passes as we could, including Tioga, Sonora, Ebbetts, Carson, Monitor, Carson, Echo, and Donner, plus rides around Tahoe. Also rode Echo a couple of times as we had to go back over the Apple Hill for some great apple pie!!!!

My riding buddy and I will be heading back out to northern CA for another excursion in the fall of 2008, 2nd half of September. Maybe we'll run in to a couple of you while we are out there, plus I'll also see what Tim has going as we could even do a pashnit ride for a few days if something works!
