Death Valley Day Ride Saturday 11/24/07

I'm am going to do a day ride in Death Valley this Saturday 11/24/07.

I'm planning to meet a few other riders at Ballarat at 9:00 a.m. and ride south to Goler Wash, Manson Cabin, Mengle Pass and then turn around and ride this loop backwards.

Or, if we feel like it, ride into Furnace Creek, gas up and eat and then ride back via Stovepipe Wells.

So far there are three of us meeting at Ballarat. If you want to join in, reply to this post or PM me with your phone number and we can discuss other details of the trip.

I am mostly going to ride this particular section on my XR650L to asses the difficulty level of this route and determine if I can ride it on my R1200GS Adventure. It is one of the infamous routes in Death Valley that few people have ridden or driven.

Any rider will need to be able to go 150 miles on one tank of gas and be street legal. You may not be able to make it through on a big Adventure bike and will need knobbies on any bike, unless you have perfect balance or balls the size of watermellons.
