Line to a friend, LB IMS, and the long way home.

Those of you who know how slow I type will appreciate that and hold off making comment until the end..... at which time I'll tell you "The End"'

Long Beach IMS show. Saturday Dec 8th Great!! I might be able to do a demo this time!! It was a no-go in San Mateo with Melody in tow.... Checking the weather, Frazier Park is only supposed to get down to 44* that night with only a 50% chance of rain..... Perfect odds, I'll take 'em!!!

Friday comes and I'm busting a gut to leave work as humanly soon as they don't absolutely need my pulse there. Of course there is always the normal wrapping up of things to get for Mondays cases before I can leave. Got it all squared away and made a bee-line for the locker room and start the layering process where waits Dr Joe Gerardi who upon seeing the amount of gearing up I'm going through (silkies, Long Johns, Widder electric vest and chaps, Sidi Roads and of course the neon beacon I call my jacket) asks, "where ya going Lar?" Guess he wasn't prepared for the answer. He all but put his car keys in my hand when I told him, "up over the Grapevine to stay with friends for the weekend." I'd have had better luck explaining an orgasm to a virgin that to try and communicate all the precautions I would take to avert his preconcieved notion of almost certain doom if I set out in the weton my sickle. Take note little bikers, some people get reall queasy if you take away the notion of crumple zones and air bags. Don't try and challenge their delusions, their happier that way.....

But I digress. First shots are the new Inclement Mc Parking Area I made at Children's.

Later I was rewarded at the base of the grapevine with a spectacular diplay of "cloudage!" The sun was about 4" from setting and gave everything a real purdy hue.

More tomorrow. Enjoy!

J

Re: Line to a friend, LB IMS, and the long way home.

Haa haa haa! All that preparation and I only got wet twice on the 99!! I almost feel cheated! NOT! Decending the Grapevine, I saw a huge wall of cloud and steeled for it's worst but thankfully it was feeling dry and under I went without a drop!

LA traffic was light so before too long I arrived at my gracious host's abode. As I stopped to read which alley I turned into, a garage door opens as if by magic and a friendly face graces the window. Long time my friend.

The warning he gave me about his dogs was only partially true. While I wouldn't want to get in a real tussle with them, they are Excellent judges of caracter and soon I was relagated to the role of FNBTG (Freakin' New Ball Throwing Guy)!

Dinner time and off to a non-chain resturant we roll! Courtney, Our server informs me the cooks won't do a pink sauce for my ravioli. I ask her in the most sincere tone I could muster and batted my baby blues to get her to at least ask....... Score!!! She comes out and announces "this is your lucky day!!" Before I could thank D&J but I would not be staying with them tonight, Courtney reveals the pink sauce was in the bag!! Or plate rather. Dinner was nice and so was courtney. Cute had nothing to do with the size of her tip.

In rolls my new bunk mate Matt. Matt, I liked ya from the first moment I saw ya! Just like my cool little brother if.......my little brother was cool.

Great weekend young man and thank you for being part of it!!!

All fer now, Werk calls... More Later!

J

God! That's a pathologically neat Garage!!

The ride into LB was well...... Just LA freeway crap..... Got a little nostalgic and rolled right to the Parking lot! thank god it was quick. The ride into LB was well...... Just LA freeway crap..... Got a little nostalgic and rolled right to the Parking lot! thank god it was quick.

We got in without fuss. One pretty lady gave us 2 $2 off coupons Which the ticket lady tried to short change me fore....... Do I LOOK Stupid?? Don't answer that.....

As soon as we got in, Matt smelled something funny..... "Hmmmmmmm, smells like scooter!!"

I was mesmerised by the spinning 2-tone sport-bike! Turning, and turning ........

Quite a few alternative powered bikes. Is this one Reeeeeealy a Ferarri engine?? Another had a Mazda Rotory powered engine....

Last one's for you Kelly! Get yer pink on!!

Re: Line to a friend, LB IMS, and the long way home.

I ran over to see if there were any openings in the demo rides! Score!! There was one for the Victory Vision at 1015. The promotional video the sales pogues wanted us to watch before getting on the bikes was Way boring and almost no preflight check-out time to familiarize ourselves with the bikes before the demo. But off we went anyway....

The Vision (or as Dale so smugly put it, "George Jetson's Bike ) first gear was very tame and predictable maneuvering around the parking lot. shifting was accompanied by a "Positive Tactoauditory Conformation" known also by the unenlightened as a "Clunk!!" The red line came reeeal fast without all the backfiring and sputtering that normally accompanies a bounce off the rev limiter.
