Red Hen Cantina in Napa

The Red Hen has been around Napa for AGES. It was opened by a former actress of the silver screen. The restaurant was eventually purchased by a local Napan. It is no longer at the old location, but the big red hen is still out in front of the restaurant and can be seen along Hwy 29 between Trower and Vine Hill Roads.

The Red Hen serves up mexican dishes, but is known for its nachos and margaritas. They have special parking for motorcycles right out in front next to the chicken. Did I mention the margaritas?

WOW, one of my old haunts makes it onto pashnit. I haunted the place in the early 80's when they first started making margaritas in a soft ice cream machine 5 gallons at a time. Back then the Happy Hour featured dollar margaritas and a tasty mexican buffet of appetizers. The food was always good and the waitresses pretty, and the outside seating in the summer evenings was the best!
