Curvy Road Groundhog's Day Ride 2008

We have been having bad weather here lately and my friend Brandon and I have been itching to ride! We've been drooling over all the photos here at Pashnit and couldn't take it anymore! Haha. We decided to go out for a little ride this morning before the rain set in, so we headed over to Del Puerto Canyon. Here we are at the entrance near Patterson, Ca.

A few miles into the canyon, we found a nice little curve and decided to take some action shots. Here I am on my Busa

Here is Brandon on his ZX-7R

After a little while, it started to sprinkle on us. We decided to turn around and head back home. This is the reason we had to end our ride:

On our way home, we spotted this field of Canadian Geese. When we stopped to take some pictures, they got spooked and started to fly off. I got my camera out and took this pic as fast as I could before they were gone. Then I put the camera away and we got the heck out of there before they started to fly over us! Haha. There were thousands of them!!!

All in all, it was a good morning. It was nice to finally be able to ride again. Here's one last pic,...that's a brocoli field behind my bike!

Re: Groundhog's Day Ride 2008

I recently did Del Puerto Canyon over to Mines Rd and WOW!!! What a fun ride. It's my new favorite road for the time being.

If I recall right Chief & Big D set a geocache along there last summer. Also, How's that Junction Cafe? We saw a lot of bikes there the day we went by.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I wanna go ride that one again. Too bad the start is about 2 hours from home. (But well worth it)

That is a favorite of mine too. I bet it was fun to get out even though it was cut short due to the bad weather.

Syd... Kenny and Larry set that Geocache almost one year ago. http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10182
Next time you want to go out that way, head down through the delta and we can hook up. There are some fun back roads to and from Mines and DPC I would love to show ya.

Re: Groundhog's Day Ride 2008

I've done the Del Puerto ride 4 times now but I have never stopped to check out the Junction Cafe. There are always a lot of bikes there when I do go by. I'll have to make it a point to stop the next time I go. Has anyone ever taken the route to go toward San Jose (San Antonio Valley Rd. to Mt. Hamilton Rd.) rather than Livermore (Mines Rd.)? I think I am going to try that next time.

Nice ride over the hill into SJ, used to ride it all the time.
Be careful, there is plenty of sand on the road up there.

Just curious, why does the Busa look like it's a mile long?

Re: Groundhog's Day Ride 2008

I noticed a lot more sand and gravel on the road in Del Puerto this last ride. I'm sure it's due to all the rain we've been having. There were even a couple of spots where it looked like they had cleared some small land slides. The Busa is a little extra long because I put some 6" swing arm extensions on it. The last time I took it to the track to drag race, I always had to shift early to keep the front end down. This should cure that problem. I ride it easy on the street though, it's not the best thing for turning corners. Haha
