Here's one from the Rancheria Rd. D/S Ride. It's some where off 23S16 that was a great ride.

Re: Panoramic Pics....
what camera are you using? and does one click of the shutter take the pano, or do you take several in a row and the camera stitches them together?

Re: Panoramic Pics....
James, there are several answers to that. What I do is take several side-by-side photos overlapping each one by about 10-20%. Another trick is to shoot the left first (or whichever) and then return to that spot to meter the camera. Otherwise, the camera will change the shutter speed each time based on the light. Another tip is plant your feet and point your toes in the middle of the pic. Rotate on your hips, and don't move your feet. This will help later on with stitching the pics.
I use PhotoStitch. Older program, but works great. Another tip is get creative. This is two side by side portrait (tall pics) style. Works great when I want to show things like clouds, or emphasize height, rather than width. Check out the ripples in the water. Cool! This is Lake Alpine on Fairfax-Bolinas Rd btw. |

Re: Panoramic Pics....
oh, Photostitch is my favorite! I use all those manual strategies that you mentioned, but have heard that some newfangled digi cameras can do this process automatically. I was curious, since Locopez's panos look nice and clean and I doubted that a camera alone would be able to generate such nice panos without a computer and software.

Re: Panoramic Pics....
James.....
last year I ended up getting two new Olympus camera...they both said that they had the PANO capability. But found out after I bought a memory chip that the PANO feature only works with an Olympus chip. Anyways...you set it to the mode and snap away. I have been learning in the mode you need some overlap so it is almost near impossible to see the seem between the pics. My camera came w/SW to do the pano pics. I have played with PANO pics a lot in the last year. When I get home and can access my other photos...I will post a pic that was 10 shots put together. Kind of neat. Keep riding and Shooting pics....I love this site!

Re: Panoramic Pics....
Speaking of overlapping, here's one where I specifically used the motorcycle as the overlap object. Shouldn't a done that. Kind of bent the front wheel a little.
This is again two portrait pics glued together, which was my project for the weekend (that type of shot). King Ridge Rd |

Re: Panoramic Pics....
Like I said the PANO feature is fun to play with....so on that note....here is one of the first or so I took.
This is on Michigan Bar Rd which goes runs North and South. This was a series of ten shots glued together....so there is only one road and one bike... ![]() Not the best PANO you have ever seen...but still cool none the less. Okay one more non-M/C related....I love this one.... GO GIANTS!
