Saturday Gathering Loop

Have a tentative loop planned for Saturday (May 10) through some of the best roads on Pashnit. Who wants to join me?

Will leave in the morning sometime, pace casual. Most of the roads are ultra-goat (but paved). Will be stopping for photos, oh yes!

North-South (north)
Mormon Emigrant Trail (right)
NF-71 (left)
Highway 50 (west)
Wrights Lake (right)
Ice House (right)
Ice House becomes Wentworth Springs, continue
Balderson Road (left)
Darling Ridge Road (left)
Bear Creek Road (right)
Traverse Creek Road (left)
Spanish Flat (left)
Highway 193 (left, south)
Rock Creek Road (left)
Mosquito Road (right)
Highway 50 (east)
Newton Road (right)
Pleasant Valley (left)
Pleasant Valley becomes Sly Park, continue
Mormon Emigrant Trail (right)
Bonetti Rd (right)
North-South (right)

Back to Sopiago.

A mostly-accurate Google map.

(Errors on the Google map: Bonetti not shown, as Google doesn't know it goes through to North-South; and the route stops near the north end of N-S road. Couldn't get it to retrace back to Sopiago.)

Total distance: GPS says 196 miles, 6:17 to complete (low speeds, goat roads). Who's in? Bring your camera!

Please, let me know if there are other roads I should add to the loop. Gotta be goaty!

(Edit to add: If any of these roads are dirt/gravel, let me know, so I can reroute.)

Pencil me in for that one. Breakfast at Tim's place, or later, on the road?.

My kinda ride! Probably too much for a two-up ride though huh? I can ride these goat trails all day...and do! Anyone else planning on taking along their significant other?

ha... hey Victor, heck we are almost neighbors... I live a few minutes from Lockeford. I am testing out my new girlfriends riding capabilities this weekend...lol We'll see how she does, but I would like to take her along on this ride. Looks like a lot of fun.

IIRC, the Mormon Emigrant trail was still snowed in last year...

Let's hope it warms up soon and melts all the snow.

If some roads are closed - we'll ride other ones!

Re: Saturday Gathering Loop

That's a good point for early may. Wrights Lake Rd, Ice House & Wentworth Springs Rd are your highest elevation (Wentworth is 6500 ft over Hartless Mtn) on that ride. It's a great goaty loop Mike, Only one you didn't add in there is FR 71- also likely snowed in though. Your entire loop is paved btw. The ones that'll slow you down the most is Bonetti Rd which is paved but single lane through the forest with several gravel patches.

Balderson - Darling Ridge was a great detour around the south side of Georgetown. Single lane pavement, but surprisingly in good condition. Not a single other vehicle last time I rode that.

Darling Ridge Rd / Wilder Ridge portion south of Georgetown.

Good luck! I'm planning on taking my daughter out on the FJR this weekend too. First real ride for her. I Just got the thing last Saturday and then got sick and couldn't ride..much...lol....made myself even more sick. I think I'll just take her up to the Pardee vista point and back via Valley Springs. Might go into Jackson via Stoney Creek road instead and loop back toward San Andreas and Valley Springs.

Let me know if you want to go for a ride. I know some decent goat trails...Jesus Maria out of Moke hill is pretty fun. Used to ride it all the time when I had a Roadstar. Curious to find out how the FJR does on it. Even did North South road before I saw it on Pashnit. Easy to get lost if you don't have a GPS.

Take care neighbor!
