Confused6 Can Someone Recommend A Photo Spot?

I have a friend that recently acquired her "dream bike"... the bike she has been lusting after for years. She told me yesterday that she wants to take some photos of it in front of a field of flowers... and I know that now would be the time of year to find flowers in bloom... but not being much of a flower person myself, I wasn't sure where in the Bay Area we could go to take some glamor shots of her new Ducati with some flowers in the background.

Any suggestions?

Where would you take your new pride and joy for a photo shoot?

That's @ Big Sandy Wildlife Preserve just North of San Miguel on Indian Valley Road. In the background is Camp Roberts and the 101 Fwy. A little far from the Bay Area (for a Duc) but it sure is Pretty!! ...and won't be around much longer either....

Perhaps up towards Mt. Hamilton east of San Jose

3/24/07 - Mt. Hamilton / Lick Observatory

I can't believe you didn't tell us what her "dream" bike is...

Re: Can Someone Recommend A Photo Spot?

We just did a short ride around the foothills with the same thought in mind to take some nice bike shots. I went out on the seldom traveled roads so going slow & pulling over in odd spots would not be hazardous. We made a few U-turns after riding by a particualrly scenic spot. I too was looking for some color shots with tthe spring bloom but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Going to go out again today and check out some more hillsides. Old & historic buildings also make nice backgrounds. Just take lots & lots of pics from all angles and I'm sure you'll be posting those "Mystery Dream Bike" pics soon!

Where ever you decide, make sure the sun is at the photogs back. Mid morning is probably best because the shadows aren't as sharp.

I don't think there are that many flowers up Mt Ham. Maybe closer to the shore (Stage Rd or Cloverdale), or south of San Jose (Uvas, etc)?

I respectfully disagree. The most boring light is with the sun at your back. You need shadows to shape most photos. Midday in general is the worst time to take photos.
