Does she look cold? ![]() Kind of reminds me of this ride with Ayumi two years ago. Although this time, Ayumi had a Gerbing heated jacket & pants too. |

Re: From the Saddle. Pashnit Tours heads to NorCal.
Hwy 299 if you haven't ridden it sticks to the banks of the river and slowly climbs in elevation. Think mile long sweepers.
We weren't the only one out enjoying the ride. ![]() Debate over whether this was a fox or a small coyote Anyone? |

If you're ever in Weaverville, make sure to swing by the Joss House. Interesting slice of history.
And if you study any of California History, can't get away from the role of the Chinese in helping to build the state. Literally. The museum is very small, but has some cool artifacts from the time. |

Our docent said they still do a historic reanctment of Bomb Day in Marysville, CA once a year. Have to look that one up. ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Marysville,_California http://www.asianamericanbooks.com/ca...ets/nl0307.htm |

Re: From the Saddle. Pashnit Tours heads to NorCal.
But the real attraction is the Joss House Temple, one of the last authentic Chinese temples left.

Re: From the Saddle. Pashnit Tours heads to NorCal.
Our docent Jack gave our group a private tour, plus access to all the rooms which I hadn't seen before.
Things like this depiction of Chinese life are always interesting. All hand carved out of solid wood by master carvers & then overlayed with gold leaf. Incidently, Ayumi's family back in Japan, laying gold leaf is what they for a living. The detail was very cool! Billie got this one of the back of the alter area. Each figure depicts a different profession or walk of life. Idea being that no matter who you were, or what you did, you'd be able to identify with a particular figurine. |

Re: From the Saddle. Pashnit Tours heads to NorCal.
Main Street USA in the Rocky Mountains? Nope. Actually just Weaverville. Check out all that snow. The snowline was running just below 4000 feet, still pretty low and we had of course skipped Forest Rd 1. As I was looking at the snow, I was thinking we had to go up and over South Fork Mountain Pass at 4000 feet. Would there be snow there or not? Headed up Hayfork Pass - Hwy 3 |
