The stages of my 05' CBR 600RR

Well first off, I wasn't sure where to post this becuase it is about repairs sortof, but there a lot of pictures, so I posted it here. I will start by saying that I purchased this bike brand new in '05, and fell in love with it. I don't have many quality pictures of the original bike, but i have a couple camera phone quality.

Just a few short months later I lowsided. I hit a patch of gravel on the outside of the road. Ruined my sliders, but it saved a good portion of the fairings. Just a couple small scratches is all I really had. Then 2 weeks later I lowsided again on the same side as the previous accident, but this time, I hadn't replaced the sliders yet, I had taken them off. Oops. Here is the result after all the fairing were gone. Sorry, but I don't have pictures of the left mid. Just imagine 20 cracks and tremendous scratches and you'll be right

After riding it in that current condition for quite some time, Warrior (Jason) suggest I turn it into a rat bike. So I did.

I liked the way it looked as a rat bike. I really did. But I wanted it back to at least part of its old self. So now here is the final product my redone, repaired and repainted 2005 CBR 600RR. I had kept all the old fairings and with the help of bondo and fiberglass, i was able to make it look somewhat decent if you ask me. This was my first time painting anything auto. So I had a friend give me a beginner course, and then I took a whack at it. So here she is.

Nice job. Awesome job squaring those fairings away! I just got done with my first experience painting anything 'properly' also. Not to hard is it!

The "Battle Axe" was awesome, but you did a good job putting it back together. Did you keep the same plate name as you had here?

Re: The stages of my 05' CBR 600RR

Did i have a custom plate there? I don't remember. I know I always talked about it, but whether or not i went for it i don't remember. Besides that, it is too expensive here for a custom plate. almost 200 more a year for registration. now that you mention it, i think i did have a custom plate. What did it say? I forgot.

**Edit** Oh yea, i remember now. the "battle axe" triggered my memory. Yea, I didn't get "BTLAX" again. it looked different in my mind when i ordered it.

I have to ask Adam, how did you manage to crash twice in the same spot in 2 weeks? I've never heard of anyone doing that before, so either you are the world's most unlucky rider or there is a story behind it.

Nice job on the repair by the way, it looks good.

Re: The stages of my 05' CBR 600RR

well, it wasn't the exact same spot, just a couple miles down the road. The first time i wrecked, i looked in my mirror going around a turn (will NEVER do that again, hence the patch of gravel i didn't see) and two weeks later, I just plain ran off the road trying to ride beyond my weakened skill level from the previous accident. Unlucky has nothing to do with it, but i think maybe my kahones were too big at the time.

Good job. Looks better with plastic than without IMO.

What kind of paint did you use. You might consider blocking out the base and spray a nice clear to even out some of the orange peel. I've got mine in primer right now, waiting to spray it in base coat/clear coat. Spraying isn't as hard as it appears - you just have to be patient and "smooth" with your coverage.
