Need help planning a Grand Canyon Run
Hello folks. I tried once to post this and it didn't go through but in short, we need help planning a ride for a small group from Monterey to the Grand Canyon.

Re: Need help planning a Grand Canyon Run
Getting across Arizona's going to be the tough part.
You could cross the Sierras via Sierra or Ebbett's pass, then down the 395 and overnight in Mammoth or Bishop; then an early start on day 2 and stop in Laughlin; and then on to the Grand Canyon on day 3. That's about 375/375/200. Or ride down the coast and east through Bakersfield, stopping in Tehachapi (a little less desert-like than Bakersfield); and on to the Grand Canyon on day 2. Depending on your day-1 route, that's 250-300/420. In either case, get an early start (like kickstands up at dawn) on day 2 to get across the desert before it heats up -- plus, the deserts much prettier in the early morning light.

Re: Need help planning a Grand Canyon Run
We are planning on doing this ride leaving Bishop. I tried to plan about 400 mile days. We plan on stopping in Cedar City, Kayenta, and St. George. Although this route does not get to the South Rim, we will get to the North Rim, which my friend says is preferred. We will see if he is correct.
