Re: How do you justify the risk of riding?

Don't dwell on the what ifs,

as others have said - you could be killed walking down the street, sitting in your front room etc etc etx

but if you are enjoy riding - then do it safely

A wise person will continually assess risk in context to reward and avoid high risk/low reward scenarios, then die anyway.

That's a tough legacy to break free of. And it's one of the reasons I began riding, and why I will likely ride again in the future
I'm only 36 and I already have a list of should-have-dones. Like you that's also one of the reasons I began riding. I've talked about getting a motorcycle since I was a teenager. When I hit 34 I realized that maybe I should stop talking about it and do it. There was nothing stopping me but me. I'm sure by the time I get up there in age there will be things I've regretted doing or not doing but there are plenty of years left to make that as small a list as possible.

To the OP if you want to ride...ride. You don't need to justify anything.

Worked for me. That was how I became the owner of a brand new 1985 Harley FLTCH. Gotta do it or shut up at some point. I did both.

Re: How do you justify the risk of riding?

When i was 16 my mom gave me the keys to my first bike (1986 Shadow vt1100) and said "if ur going to kill some one on the road id rather it be just u"
I havent gotten off yet.
I Ride for 5 simple reasons...............

1. The "11-teens" dig it.

2. U can really learn about ur sexuality.

C. It justifies hanging out with this guy.

And of course I do it for the "Backfat"

If u really feel that u have to justify the risk of riding u need to get the hell off the road before u kill somebody
