Oatman, Arizona to Kingman Arizona

I have been from Bullhead City to Oatman --

but I need to know what the road condition is like from Oatman to Kingman - I know its got a few curves - but overall condition of pavement is what concerns me.

taking a ride there in a week
thanks
Rod

Re: Oatman, Arizona to Kingman Arizona

"A few curves" is an understatement, to say the least. Lots of hairpin turns, and pretty drastic elevation changes.

It's a cool ride though, road surface is not great, but it's rideable. Just take your time, watch for marbles, motorhomes, burros and keep your attention on the road and you'll be fine. There are many great photo-ops, and it's a fun ride.

Enjoy...

Edit: It's been a year or so since I rode there, and we had some rain last week, so there could be some issues that were not there when I was.

The wife and I were there the end of March. It was a great ride and the road was in good shape. As mentioned lots of twisteys for you.

Give a shout when you are going and I it is ok with you I may ride along. Oatman was really a fun place and the prices on Stuff was not to bad.

When are you going? I will be in Oatman in on June 8th (Day 2 of a 9 day ride) - sounds like we will be riding roughly the same route as you. We are heading to Kingman from Death Valley via old Route 66 through Bullhead City.

Maybe we will cross paths!

Re: Oatman, Arizona to Kingman Arizona

the plan is going there on June 7th on the way to the Grand Canyon -- I'm leading probably 20 other bikes on this trip and I was concerned about the road as we have some newer riders in the group-- I might rethink going through Oatman and by doing that, it will give us more time at Grand Canyon Caverns for lunch --

we're leaving Friday(June 6) morning and hitting Laughlin for the 1st night

Oatman is a pretty fun place....All the Donkeys running around through town makes for great conversation

When I rode from Kingman to Laughlin a few years back it was raining foggy and sort of , but that was in September. I can tell you that the yellow line on the highway was easy to follow and freshly painted !
