Crater Lake 06-01-08

i called crater lake and asked if the rim was open... they said the north entrance was closed but the west entrance was open... i asked if the rim was open... they said yes it was open but you had to use the west entrance...

so we got up there with great anticipation of riding the rim and taking it all in... just to be informed that the rim was closed... the confusion was the road was open to the rim village... when i was talking about the rim road that goes around the entire lake... o well...

it was great to ride in the fresh crisp air... taking in all the scenery... you or-a-goons have it going on... mt hood next weekend...

here is our crater lake ride report...

my zumo... a tank bag map and a highgear watch...

the umpqua river... it was flowing like a mo...

crazy rocks everywhere...

the road to toketee falls was closed due to storm damage... so were a couple others... but we got to these...

mount bailey...

the main roads were good... the side roads were like this... covered with little red lava rocks...

mount theilsen...

getting close to the crater...

the bug eye brick and the crater lake...

that crazy wench starting a fight...

and the critters... there were many...

there you go...

I am constantly amazed at how green Oregon is, and how much snow there is hills. Beautiful scenery, lovely ride, other than the marble sized red rocks on the road. Crater Lake with a blue sky and snow is amazing. Great pics.

Nice pics, and post! You're still likely to find snow the next several weeks. I mean, snow falling...the passes got a few inches last night.

Great photos! We really love Crater Lake. We will be camping at Loon Lake July 13th. Unfortunately we won't be riding we have too much camping gear. Going to drive the club van and spend about $600. in fuel round trip.
