Pictures from the Summits of Mountain Passes

Just was looking at my photos from a ride last October in which I traversed the continental divide 4 times in one day in 4 different spots. Thought it might make a cool themed thread of pictures at mountain passes. Here are those four passes on what was simply an extraordinary day:

Most of them had snow on the sides of the road in October, and one of them had a 14 mile run of a dirt road down the backside which was interesting on a fully loaded VFR.

Re: Pictures from the Summits of Mountain Passes

And my pic of ebbets pass has too many pixels and I don't feel like resizing it so I am going to post two other pics from Ebbets...

Followed by One of a goat trail between Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley, so its a pass of sorts.

The 4th is a pic of the loneliest road I have yet encountered, somewhere in Nevada real close to cali East of Big Pine.

Don't know the name of it, but it is the south summit of the coast range on Mattole Rd.

Hey, that looks familiar! Not sure who wheezed more...me or her.

I did a single-day trip of about 650 miles on my Yamaha FZ1 starting and ending in Aspen. Traversed McClure pass, Lizard Head pass, Coal Bank pass, Molas pass, Red Mountain pass, Monarch pass, and of course, Independence Pass to complete the loop. It was a long day and very cold when I made it back home.

Hey I've got a few of those...

Winter...

Summer...

Tioga Pass...

Monitor Pass...

Rogers Pass in the Canadian Rockies...

And here's one you don't see too often. Kaiser Pass, over the Sierras. Talk about off the beaten path. I'm pretty sure this is the only existing photo of a GT on this road .
