The Great Nova Scotia - Newfoundland Expedition
Just completed a ten day trip from the Kingdom of Rhode Island to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland on my FJR.
![]() As usual, I was accompanied by my girlfriend on the FJR back seat and my riding buddy Abi on his BMW Rockster. Our Expedition was also joined by Keith, a newcomer, who flogged, beat and dropped my Harley. I've started writing up our trip on my blog. The first installment can be found here: http://frenchysrant.blogspot.com/2008/06/g...ova-scotia.html The rest will be up in a few days. |

Re: The Great Nova Scotia - Newfoundland Expedition
The last installment of the Great Nova Scotia Expedition was posted on my blog today.
Thanks to all that took the time to check it out! Next on the agenda is a return ride to Tennessee in August, then Rain Cloud Follows and I will be migrating back west to California for the winter, most likely heading through Northern Angle, Minnesota to handle part three of the Four Corners Mandate. Then Baja in October, then who the hell knows? Keep checking the blog for all that, and other ridiculous things that pop into my head. Life is short! Happy Riding! |

Your tale is so intriguing I had to go get another beer to read through it all. Fiona, by the way, has a great eye for photography. Keep posting up more.

Re: The Great Nova Scotia - Newfoundland Expedition
Thanks for the good laugh!
Too bad you guy speed through Southern New Brunswick, you missed nice roads and landscapes. Living in Eastern Canada, it is my duty to reveal the mystery to why you encountered so many shops named after you. All stores with "Frenchy's" in their name (it seem a certain Guy, no pun intended, owns couple of those stores) are quality used clothing stores. Upon seeing a Guy Frenchy's store, a certain female individual, expressed her disapoinment at the lack of female oriented "Frenchy's" For the record, from all my travels around Eastern Canada, I have never encountered a Gal Frenchy's ![]() Now you've given the idea to go ride the Rock (this is how the inhabitants of the Island call their little piece of heaven).

Re: The Great Nova Scotia - Newfoundland Expedition
Just check out your blog - this paragraph made me laugh out loud!
"The passenger ‘seat’ on that bike is little more than a vinyl covered phone book, designed by a team of Guantanamo Bay interrogators to get information out of people quickly. Fiona, having never been on a motorcycle before, laughed about it the whole way to California. On these rides, Fiona has never once complained, enjoys riding in the rain, shoots pictures like a pro off the back of a bike at 90 MPH, and best of all suffers my insufferable stubbornness with an ever present smile. Really, the only downside to having her as a passenger is she doesn’t realize that despite my earplugs, I can still hear her back there singing away at the top of her lungs." I spent 8 days of my honeymoon with Matthewp sitting on the Hayabusa-phone-book-seat!! Fiona is a better pilion than I - I complained! I believe there's a trip to Ojai in our future to get a seat better fitted to MY seat! Your blog is great. I enjoyed all the photos! |

Re: The Great Nova Scotia - Newfoundland Expedition
Thanks to everyone for the compliments.
I am right now at the start of another ride, this time a semi-solo trip to Washington DC. I say semi-solo because although my riding buddy Abi isn't here, his lookalike decided to come along for the ride. ![]() My Riding Buddy Abi ![]() His replacement - MiniAbi! The ride report will be on my blog in a few days. |
