Curvy Road **CANCELLED** CA, OR, WA, ID, MT Road trip

Long story short, I recently moved to Montana, and my Sporty is still in Livermore, CA. We were going to get it shipped for ~$650, but it was my wife who suggested that I fly out and ride it back to Montana to "save money".

Anyway, the plan is for me to fly out the morning of Friday the 18th, and start the ride, heading up Rte 101. I hope to get to the top of CA by Friday night. Through Oregon to Tacoma by Saturday night. Through WA and ID, and Back to Bozeman, MT before the end of Sunday. (Just in time to go to work on Monday)

I'm looking for anyone who would like to join me on any part of the ride. I have one buddy scheduled to ride with me for a few miles when I leave Tacoma.

I've been riding for the better part of 10 years, but I am always open to some sage advise. Some of you have MANY more mile than I do.

Any takers?

Edit-I meant Route 1, not 101. Much better for sight seeing.

Tim,
I'd love to meet you for some of your ride up Oregon 101; unfortunately, I have a parade to march in on Saturday, and can't do that. Have a fun trip, and take some pix!!

Do you plan to ride up the Oregon Coast on 101, or inland up the I-5 corridor?. (Not I-5, just the general vicinity )

There are some great choices through both Orygun and Washington in this thread.

Sorry you can't make it, but parades are always fun

I think I am going to stick to 101. I recently moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Montana, so I'm not going to see the ocean for a while, so I figured I'd stick to the coast for this ride. Since I have a limited time to get back to Montana before work on Monday, there isn't going to be much time to stop for sightseeing, or any side trips. Plus, if I stay on the Coast Highway, there is going to be the least amount of opportunity for me to get lost. Not that getting lost on two wheels is a bad thing, but I am on a tight schedule.

So what is the criteria for an Iron Butt?

Stupid Harleys cost WAAYY too much to get fixed. What I was hoping was going to be a $4-600 repair is more like a MINIMUM $1600 repair, and $2900 to do it all.

I can't afford to get it fixed AND ride it back, so we have resigned to the fact that we're going to have to get it shipped, and do the repairs later.

I was REALLY looking forward to taking the road trip, and in one phone call (to the dealer) that was yanked out from under me.

On the brighter side, I did buy non-refundable tickets, so I am still getting a trip out to CA and now I can spend some time with some friends.

I'm still pissed, though.
