Mark, remember the day you posted you had NEVER been taken down by a car in 36 years? What happened a week later? David was correct estimating he gave the kiss of death!

Mattole Rd. Several tons of soft dirt, trying to stay in the goove of the tire treads of the cars. Looked where I didn't want to go, went there, did just about everything wrong that I could for being in soft dirt, and down I went. Bent clutch control (not broke, unlike some I don't carry a spare) but fixed with a crescent wrench.

Yeah, he is doomed (hopefully not as badly as my accident was).

oh man, in front of Alice's??

It's ok, i've done embarassing stuff in front of Alice's too... both times, in fact... remember how i told everyone i was HORRIBLE at parking a motorcycle? i get excited about a parking space and end up nosing into things that are facing downhill.

Twice now i've had to have my big, strong daddy give me a push to get back up the hill in front of all the kneedraggers at Alice's. not quite dropping it there, but embarassing nonetheless!!

I can't believe that I am about to put this into witting. But I'm a moto noob. I have just under 3,500 miles on my Kawi Ninja. The bike was dropped once by the previous owner. I have yet to drop it...I have done some interesting dances to keep it up right. But I have never seen my bike rubber side up Its currently sitting outside and I know as soon as I press submit I'm gonna hear a crash from outside and see it rubber side up. Crossing the fingers!!! Knocking on Wood...

Had the same thing happen with my Kawasaki Vulcan. One windy day, I had stopped beside the highway to pick up some trash and parked the bike with the wheels just on the shoulder. It didn't seem to be sitting too upright. Picked up the stuff (it was a a hundred foot or so of orange plastic ribbon making a mess on the side of the road), gathered it up and put it in the right side saddlebag, then just started to walk behind the bike to remount from the left side. Just as I pass behind it, the bike silently falls over on the right side. Luckily, I had parked close to the edge, so it fell over in the grass.

So I stand there for a second, utterly embarrassed as traffic whizzes by, wondering how I'm gonna pick up the heavy thing. Because of the slope of the shoulder, I was able to get down lower and really put my legs into it. Somehow got it back upright. Only bent the windshield mount a little.

So much for being a good samaritan.

I guess that big bike with a big windshield was a more effective sail that I had thought.

Re: "I Dropped my new bike" club. Join for free! Feel better about your mishap!

Ok, everyone else has admitted to it so I will put mine in writing to. I am just getting back into riding but the first street bike I had was a Suzuki GS550 with a fairing. This bike was old and worn but I was proud the day I picked it up. My friend was on his bike and we took off and made our first stop at a 7-11 type store. People going in and out and I was cool on my new bike at 18 years old. I start to step off trying to be smooth I thought. I forgot the kick stand and me and the bike go done. Everyone except me got a good laugh that day.
Now I can laugh about it, but not then.

That has to be some kinda of record, I had only had the bike for 15 minutes.
