for Pashnit!

The AMA has not been a friend to motorcycle racing in America. They should leave racing entirely and do what they do best in the seedy world of politics.
Jack Youngblood, leader of the AMA at one time, did his best to smear Roger Edmonson...the best guy to ever run AMA racing.

John Ulrich's Road Racing World covered the Youngblood vs Edmonson case very well. They were in court everyday. The AMA was not happy about that press.

The AMA did its very best at keeping British, German and Italian bikes off USA race tracks inorder to preserve Harley Davidson wins with the old 750cc flathead that had 60 years of developement work. George Kerker was kept from racing a Guzzi at Daytona in 1971 by a last minute technicality...

I will rejoin the AMA when they leave racing.

American Motorcyclist Association approves sale of AMA Pro Racing to Daytona Motorsports Group
Posted July 10, 2008 Email Print

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today that the Association's Board of Directors has unanimously approved the final agreement regarding the sale of certain of its AMA Pro Racing properties to the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG) based in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Under the terms of the sale, DMG will own the sanctioning, promotional and management rights to AMA Pro Racing. The sale does not include the rights to the AMA Supercross and AMA Arenacross Series, which are held by Live Nation and will continue to be sanctioned by the AMA.

The AMA and DMG will provide additional information in a joint announcement at a later date

The AMA has recently shifted it's focus away from racing towards street riding. It will continue to sanction races but actual race promotion and production has been divested to others. This is a fairly recent move on the part of the AMA and may not yet be well publicized. The move was announced in American Motorcyclist several months back along with a change of directors, a logo change and a makeover of AM magazine.
