After the help I received in planning the trip here's the detail of what we finally did :-

31st July
1st August A Sierra Navada Pashnit Tour
2nd August A Sierra Navada Pashnit Tour

The Entire Trip

We had a great time, and thanks for the help in planning this trip.

Some comments

The Camelbak tip was great on the days it was 90 to 105 F. I packed it with ice at the hotel, and it was enough for the two of us for the day.
Gas, there seemed to be no system, each gas station had a payment system of it's own. We never had any problems with credit cards.
Service everywhere was great.
Half the people we met on the road were other Europeans on vacation.
The Rental was from EagleRider, they were nice and easy to do business with. I bought this through HC Travel. Cheaper than dealing direct, and they only want the cash six weeks before the bike's picked up, check EagleRiders terms.
We never had a problem finding a room, though sometimes we had to travel a long way to the nearest hotel.
It never rained.
