Road trip books or publications

Hi Guys, this forum really is a great resource for advice and information on travelling around California and the US by bike but is does anyone know of any books or publications, like magazines that specialize in similar information, routes and trip suggestions. I don't always have access to the internet and want something to look through on breaks at work.

Here's Here's
a good book that I'm currently reading. Salvadori writes about the history of each place he visits, which makes for interesting reading.

Here's Here's
another book that is rated highly on Amazon (4 out of 5 stars), but I haven't yet read it. It's by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), but you don't need to be a member to buy it.

Road Runner is a good magazine that's all about travel by motorcycle. I look forward to that one in my mailbox every month, plus a few others such as Rider magazine, Motorcyclist magazine and American Motorcyclist but, you must be a member of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) to receive that one.

I used this for some of my last cycle trip. It is not specifically for motorcycles but has alot of places to go that make great side trips.

RoadRunner Magazine...I get excited every time I see the new issue in my mailbox. Top quality magazine (heavy glossy paper like you get from National Geographic Magazine), combined with great trip reports and outstanding photographs. I recently extended my subscription for another 2 years. I can't get real enthused about reading motorcycle reviews, but reading about places and experiences gets my rapt attention.
They even have a pull out tankbag map of the trip that was highlighted in the current issue so you have a reference to make the same trip.

+1 on Clement Salvadori's book. He's also done
similar books similar books
on France and Baja (it looks like the latest edition of the California book incorporates the Baja content).

White Horse Press has a number of fantastic books for trip planning across the US. Check out their website.

Re: Road trip books or publications

You should check out Whitehorse Press. They have a lot of moto travel books for different part of the nation.

I didn't care for destination highways.. too much chatter about stuff other than the ride. I find Salvadori's book from Whitehorse Press better.

I did get this book:
Amazon.com: The Most Scenic Drives in America: 120 Spectacular Road Trips: Robert J. Dolezal, Jerry Bates, Barbara Dolezal, George McKeon, Barbara Booth, Dolores York: Books Amazon.com: The Most Scenic Drives in America: 120 Spectacular Road Trips: Robert J. Dolezal, Jerry Bates, Barbara Dolezal, George McKeon, Barbara Booth, Dolores York: Books

But it's very broad and not deep at all.

Try the library.
I am still going through many new and old books from Los Angeles County, and City, and Riverside/San Bernardino County libraries.
One Man Caravan, by Fulton, I liked the book so much I got the video Two On a Caravan.
Lois on the Loose, Lois Pryce. Et alia.
