Bought a Yamaha WR250R
I've had my eye on a smaller dirt bike I could use to commute around town and take on the dirt rides I've come to enjoy so much. I wanted a street legal (plated) bike, something mainly set up for dirt, but versatile enough to ride shorter distances on the pavement. I test rode the Yamaha WR250R last week and really liked it; light weight, peppy engine, nice suspension. So I pulled the trigger this Wednesday after work and purchased one.
It's quite a bit taller in the saddle height than the F650GS, I can just tippy-toe it, however once under way it's perfect. Been getting used to the set-up and 250cc engine, and after a day of riding around the light weight, maneuverability, and fun factor is just what I was looking for. Can't wait to try it on some dirt trails. I got her up to 65-70mph no problem, very stable, although the seat, 2 gallon fuel tank, and smaller engine displacement are not meant for longer street rides. I'm really stoked with the WR250R right now. No more fear of the single track or being able to clear rocks & ledges that have tempted me in the past when on the heavier, lower clearance GS. Here are a couple of pics.

Hey Tom, just picked up a new battery for the KLX today. Let me know when you would like to get together and get dirty. Nice looking bike.

Sweeeeeeeeet!
![]() I can't wait to do some trail riding. The seasons are changing and we should start seeing some rain soon. Lets get dirty! As for a hitch mount carrier..... Look for Versahaul or Motojack rack. Both are excellent and sturdy. Cool Bike Tom! Gail
