River's Edge Café - Isleton, CA

RIVER'S EDGE CAFE
7 Main St., Isleton, CA 95641
916-777-5723

Located in the historic Asian section of Isleton, serving gourmet sandwiches, and three daily breakfast specials plus three daily lunch specials. Breakfast served Wednesday thru Sunday from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Lunch served Wednesday thru Sunday from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Visa & Mastercard.

Two blocks off of Hwy 160 on Main Street. Street parking, but never a problem, since they close during the Annual Crawdad Festival. Roast lamb, a honey bacon BLT are a couple of the sandwiches served on their own foccacia bread. Breakfasts are excellent. Lunch specials have included a polenta lasagna, chicken meatloaf sandwich, and some fresh pasta dishes. Small fresh greens served with a light house dressing with lunches and sandwiches, excellent. {no fries}

Ice tea and fresh lemonade and house wines are the drinks most sold.

And in the dining room is the owner's Ural with side car.

You forgot to mention they are usually packed on weekends for Dinner. We hit there for lunch once in a while during the week. Good call.

And there's always Fosters Bighorn in Rio Vista - if only to see all the mounts on the wall

Another thumbs up for River's Edge Cafe. So good the first time, I went back the next weekend. If you like bacon -- even if you don't like bacon -- order a side of bacon for a truly sublime experience. Sandwiches are all served with fresh veggies, home made mayonaise, and assorted accompaniments. The pork loin sandwich I had was served with an amazing chutney that added abit of sweetness to offset the juiciness of the slices of pork. Other meat choices include, roasted slices of lamb and chicken meatloaf. Sandwhiches are accompanied by salads which are served with River's Edge's superb "house dressing" - a walnut vinegarette with a bit of garlic that lends a sweetness to the salad. Order their excellent fresh made mango flavored ice tea on a hot day -- every sip will be rewarded with their attentive staff rushing to refill the large cup. Great prices, well portioned, interesting and tasty meals, and a great staff. River's Edge Cafe is a must visit next time you're in the area.

No problem... Just go to the other side of town which will take a whole 90 seconds, and try the Hotel Del Rio for the best Prime Rib you've ever tasted. Hotel Del Rio

Or on the Hwy.12 side of Isleton on "The Delta Loop" try Moores Riverboat for fun and good food on the water. Moores Riverboat

In Rio Vista you can't go wrong at Maria's but if you want an Old Fashoned Burger (patties shaped by hand and made from real meat) Beer Battered Onion Rings and Malted Milk Shakes (remember those), stop at Shelby's Drive-in right next door to Maria's on Hwy.12. I recommend the Monteray Jack/Bacon Cheeseburger.

Come on over to the Riverboat on New Years Eve and come celebrate. Reservations limited to 150. $50 gets you dinner, party favors, and a heck of a band. I'll be the guy with the itty bitty sax.
