A Little San Diego County Ride
OK, this is my first ride story with pictures. And my first thread on Pashnit too, so I'm going to keep it short.
We had a little rain around the county last night, so I thought if it was clear I'd take a little putt. The Beemer needed exercise so off we went. So first I don't have a fancy camera--just a little Casio Exlim that I can fit into the pocket of my jacket--seems to fit my need to travel light (in spite of all the luggage I have for the Beemer!). It's a paradox. I'm rather fond of West Lilac, particularly the overpass over I-15. Here's the view looking north toward Temecula: Here is the road before me on West Lilac heading east: I came down Couser Canyon, but I didn't stop for pictures (Sorry!). But I made a mental note of where I should stop and take pictures the next time. It's funny--I ride these roads all the time and I never think to take a camera with me, must less find a place to stop and take a picture. As I went up the grade to Mt. Palomar I ran into some clouds, but the summit was clear. I hung out at Mother's for a bit, kicking tires and telling stories. I have pink rondels on the Beemer so that always causes a comment or two. As I left Mother's, I could see this sea of clouds below the summit. Here is the view from S7 after leaving Mother's. It was pretty amazing with the stark, burned manzanita from last year's fire: After that, down the mountain and on to Borrego Springs for lunch. I'm a total noob, so no pictures of Montezuma Grade (S22) or the food at Carlee's. I left Borrego Springs on S3 and stopped at the S3/78 junction for a quick picture as the vista and light were just amazing. Hwy 78 is the roadcut to your left: Continued on 78 to Wynola Road and back to 78. It's fall now in Julian so pretty trafficky and a bit of a cluster. Got off 78 as soon as I could and took the Old Julian Hwy to Ramona. Picked up 78 out of Ramona and home I went! Just a short trip today. Thanks for viewing!

I hit some of those roads for the first time last spring. Your pics bring up some fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

Sometimes it's hard to stop and take pictures on your favorite roads, but we appreciate it. Nice pics, love riding in that area.

Hey Kris, nice talk tonight. That Palomar to Montezuma ride was our fav until just about our entire group went track riding. I'll do that route anytime with ya!. Henry

Re: A Little San Diego County Ride
Great pictures. Must have been weird to dive back down into the clouds (AKA fog).
