After a good night of food and telling lies fueled by liquid courage we arose the next morn to a local recommendation of fish lake loop. We set off not knowing it would add 90 miles to the day but what the …. We are on an adventure
Hwy 24 took us to Hanksville through Capitol Reef where we continued south to Lake Powell on hwy 95. The ferry took us across the lake where we continued at a high rate of speed to Caliente AZ but it wasn’t to be We scrambled on a Saturday afternoon to Blanding UT to find a U-Haul for our overly optimistic duo who ran out of rubber. Thanks for small towns and good folks. We were arriving in Blanding on Saturday at 4pm the day before Mothers Day and had to try and find the Uhaul dealer. Of course the place was locked up….then outa no where a group on ATVs came rolling up and it was the owner and a group on a scenic tour which this place also ran as a business. He called his wife at home and she came down and rented us a truck and we were golden. Next morning with a Chase vehicle we made a run …. A long run to Mexican Hat UT and Kayenta on the other side of Monument Valley AZ Then a straight shot to Page AZ at a Moderate rate (Navajo Nation) no speeding !!! After lunch we shot down to Bitter Springs and Lees ferry on ALT 89 and continued to Jacobs lake, Fredonia, Kanab, before finally dropping down into Zion’s National Park for a much anticipated Dinner at the Bit & Spur then on to St George for a good night sleep and a shot back across NV. I’m not much for writing and I surely don’t write a compelling story in my estimation, that is why I am so happy to be part of the Pashnit experience. I am sure you can truly appreciate this adventure and all we saw, heard, ate, drank, and experienced together the way one only can on two wheels. Thanks for lookin and hope you get where we were. Most of all thanks to my Pals, whom I never would have met if it werent for the Pashnit pursuit of time on two wheels . |

Re: Arizona Utah 1100 mile trip part two
Have met many Pashnit riders and they always prove to be great ride partners. You are too modest, great pictures and dialog. Dads and sons and a nice mixture of bikes makes for a wonerful trip. Gotta love the two CBR's in the group. I know what that is like. With the exception of Big Kahuna when do you see a Repsol out putting on the miles. Nice trip.

great report.
You took some fantastic photos and your narrative was a very nice complement to the pics. Looking forward to more of your reports.

Re: Arizona Utah 1100 mile trip part two
Welcome!! Nice read and great pictures. I loved this shot!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time with a good group or riders. I look forward to reading more in the future. Oh btw, I just moved from Reno to Sacramento and can't tell you how glad I am to be back to more and better roads!! VC truck route was beginning to get a bit dull! ![]() Seriously, I do love the desert, but am glad to be living here and riding over there when I need a desert fix! |

Re: Arizona Utah 1100 mile trip part two
Great pics and adventure of the Great American Southwest.
Boulder Peak, at 11,000 ft, is the mountain just outside Torrey, that had all that delightful snow. When we have ridden that route in the middle of summer, we have always experienced rain, and hail at the highest point. In spite of the adverse weather conditions, that is one fun road! |
