N. Foothills Ride - Sat. 7/30

Hey Kenny, we talked on Saturday about your plans to head to Grass Valley at the end of the month... the 29th?

I'd be up for you meeting you somewhere south of here and taking in a few good roads on the way. What's your timing like? What time can you hit the road and what time do you need to be in Grass Valley? Let's see if we can get some other Sac riders to join in the fun too!

Lookin forward to it!

Hey Gary,

The plan so far is to leave Patterson around 7am Saturday July 30th. I don't have a specific arrival time in Grass Valley. I would like to get there around mid afternoon sometime. My cuz may be along for the ride but that's a maybe so far and he has very little road experience (He has dirt exp.) but then again I'm no veteran either. He should know in a day or two if he can go.

This is the final destination. Of course I don't expect a guided tour to the doorstep just thought I'd show you where I'm headed

I don't have any route in mind (I've only driven the car up there) but I'm sure you have many ideas .
Keep in mind I'm on a Sportster and Marty (my cousin) will be on the Blast (if he makes it).

Anyhow, that's it so far. Wuduya think?

Kenny

Excellent! Bill, you and I talked about riding that weekend, I believe. If we can meet early we can do a 90 minute run down to Hwy 4, west of Angels Camp and meet Kenny on the first of a string of Pashnit Roads... Here's what I'm thinking.

Pool Stn Rd north to San Andreas
Mountain Ranch Rd. to Railroad Flats
RR Flats to Hwy 26
Hwy 26 to Volcano
Ram's Horn Grade to Shake Ridge
Shake Ridge to Fiddletown
Fiddletown to 49
49 to Foresthill Rd.
Foresthill Rd. to Sugar Pine/Iowa Hill Rd.
Iowa Hill Rd. to Hwy 174
Hwy 174 to Grass Valley?

From Hwy 4 to Grass Valley... 180 miles of fine Foothills riding.

Any other Sacto riders interested? I'd bet Kenny will be snapping some great photos of the riders and the ride!

I rode a portion of that last week (16 -> Willow Creek -> Sutter-Ione), Sutter to Volcano up an obscenely steep hill (Charleston Rd.) to Hale Rd. to Fiddletown. Brought that back to Plymouth then home. B-E-A-utiful area.

Oh man, how well I know the feeling!! Here I am, posting past 1am... definitely not an early bird. But taking up riding has added a new priority to the waking hour.

So, Kenny, how's about 8:30am at Hwy 4 and Pool Station Rd? Then we can wind up the hills to Grass Valley and head back down 49 for the ride home.

So, any other Sac area takers for a day ride this Saturday? So far, it's looking like: Kenny, Bill, me and Donna. Looking forward to a gooood ride!
