It was a rapid fire succession of curves at times, and reunited with the Hayabusa, Jeff and I railed through the corners. I couldn't help but laugh.

Riding is like that sometimes.

Tightest spot on Scott River Rd couldn't have been more than a single car width. It didn't last long and further north we got, the road finally opened back up into the double yellow two-lane.

As Jeff & I arrived at Highway 96, the rest of the tour group was chatting with Brent & Brenda. Hailing from Oregon, they were down in NorCal crossing off roads. Alan had been parked here all by himself waiting for the rest of us to catch up. Brent & Brenda rolled around the corner, pulled right up to Alan and started chatting. Another fun thing about motorcycle folks... Everyone's instant friends.

As Jeff & I pulled up- everyone pointed at me.

It's always interesting to me that we can be at some random intersection in the middle of nowhere, a rider pulls up and low and behold they have heard of the Pashnit.com website. It wasn't just that they'd heard of it, they'd used my California Motorcycle Roads site to plan their ride. Not sure why that surprises me, but it still fascinates me. If it wasn't for all the attention of late from print media & newspapers, I think I would have just stayed anonymous (like the first several years of writing the pashnit.com site).

Brenda & Bent, Alan looks on

Haroldo & Megan are just plain slow.

They're in no hurry, and they've no reason to ride hell-bent on that big 'ole Kawasaki Vulcan. One thing Haroldo had mentioned is he was worried the tour would be a bunch of Ricky Racer types and he'd be left in the dust somewhere. But he had noticed there were other large cruisers, both metric & Harley on past tours, and that set his mind at ease. But it's true, fast & slow all on the same ride - no worries!! Just bring two wheels!

While the rest of riders made off up Highway 96, we rode together and I just enjoyed the ride tooling up the Klamath River Canyon following Haroldo & Megan.

Highway 96

Haroldo & Megan gave me a chance to smell the roses as it were. A chance to absorb the intense scenery, enjoy the mountainous terrain - and also a chance to shoot some photos of them. Which takes a bit of skill and patience to do while you're riding. How Andy (of the South Bay Riders does it so well, we'll never know. (Andy is somewhat famous for taking on-board photos of fellow riders.)

Haroldo set off on a slow and steady pace just as he'd done for the last two days and off we went. The two polar opposites- the Hayabusa & Cruiser. This is one of the many things that I love about these Pashnit Tours.

All bikes, any bike, all riders. All Pashnit.

Klamath River

Headed up and over to Yreka

The wonder of Highway 96 lies ahead

Sometimes twisty, sometimes off through these broad valleys
