Mile 59
This past Friday I took my new Adventure on its maiden voyage. We road up Granite road, took some dirt fingers here and there and then made our way up and over Breckenridge Rd. The GSA is the best balanced bike I have ever ridden!
While riding along Breckenridge enjoying the green rolling hills and the cold air we decided to venture off on another finger and try some more dirt riding. The dirt riding is all new to me, well, except for the years of riding a mountain bike. I'm sure some principals apply, but there are many new things to learn. Well, on mile 59 I started down a fire road and decided to drive left and right over small ruts in the road to get the sensation of the wheels tracking. I decided to make a u-turn over one of the ruts and got stuck. There was a moment of stillness and then over I went!! Ahhhhhh my new bike! The engine sputtered a little while I was standing back up. I kept her running, picked her up and drove it out...yeah. I drove up to a flat area to inspect the damage, however only found a little bit of dirt on the crash bars. I got back on and continued on my ride. I'm looking forward to the next!!

I dropped my brand new GSA with just a couple of hundred miles on it too... gotta happen sooner or later. Crash bars for the win! We need to ride, dood.

Re: Mile 59
Welcome to reality Mike - we ALL drop our bikes. Mostly we hope it will be at less than 5mph and all we'll suffer is embarassment.
Glad you enjoyed the ride and got off so lightly. Did you by any chance take any pictures? Thanks for sharing. Stephen |

Re: Mile 59
When you drop a fully loaded BMW GS you suddenly realise what a big heavy brute they are to stand upright. Unless you are strong backed and fit, it can be a 2 man job. Not a bike to be taken into very remote area's alone, especialy if there's deep sand or mud.

Re: Mile 59
Joe-
That's true. I did not have any extra baggage so it was easy! I'll remember that.
