The official Pashnit Spring Gathering 2009 Thread- May 9th

Tim and Tim,
Any dates set for spring? Hope the winter was not hard on your place. I know I could use some California sun and fun.
Norm

Tents, RV's & Fun-Movers: Yes, plenty of room for all of those!
Etc.: Yes, we'll have a huge bonfire, motorcycle movies, lotsa food, & good times
KIDS!! Yes, kids! Bring the kids!

BBQ when?: Main BBQ all together is May 9th, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, 12-5pm but come up to Sopiago Springs anytime. Some folks come up as early as Thursday!

For the streetbikes, you've probably figured out by now this region is a utopian place of motorcycle bliss. Check out the Pashnit Roads site to check out the area roads, main ones, mtn passes, and surrounding paved goat trails.

Nearby Roads are Hwy 88 - Carson Pass, North-South Rd, Hwy 4 - Ebbetts Pass, Monitor Pass and even Lake Tahoe is not far away.

CAMPERS & TENTERS: Lots of room for tents in a football-field sized grassy area. If you tent, be prepared for cold overnight temps. Spring at 4500 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains? You do the math! Warm days, cool nights.

Our host property has room for large RV's, FunMovers, Camping trailers and other assorted large vehicles. There are probably 20-30 camping spaces. If you plan to camp, trailer up your dirtbikes/quads, or use up a camping space, please contribute an extra $10 to the owner for allowing this event on his private property.

Lodging near Pioneer, CA - Booking a room.. Details...

The closest bastion of civilization is Pioneer along Highway 88. Pioneer, CA = 16 miles NE of Jackson

Our Host Lodging: Pioneer Lodge, (24 rooms) 24144 Highway 88, Pioneer, (209) 295-3490
http://www.pioneerresortca.com/ (most people stay here.)

Finding Sopiago Springs...

Word to the wise... Do not come up here unless you have a general idea as to where you are going. Too easy to get lost.

Sopiago Springs Resort is located a few miles north of Hwy 88 (Carson Pass). Take Omo Ranch Rd north several hundred yards. Omo Ranch Rd splits & North-South Rd begins heading due north to connect with Mormon Emigrant Trail. Omo Ranch Rd turns due west towards Hwy E16 & Fairplay.

North-South Rd drops off the ridgeline and descends a twisty goaty path (yes, large campers do fine, this is is traversed by large water tanker semi's) 2 miles to a fork in the road. Tim often refers to a stump on the north side of the road here, but descending northward down the hill, hard to see. There will be a sign here "PASHNIT -->" and arrow at this fork in the road. If you go more than 2 miles, you've gone too far.

See the fork? Go right.

MS&T lists Tim's address (the fork in the road actually) as 1532 North-South Rd, Somerset, CA 95684- but that may or may not work on your GPS.

GPS COORDINATES: Sopiago Springs Entrance: 38° 32.253 / 120° 26.537’

PHOTO Directions: Awhile back, John wrote a terrific thread about how to find Tim's place. Read that here - Clicky!! If you plan to arrive in the middle of the night, be advised there is not a light on for miles.

Hey Norm, the dates for the Spring Gathering should be the 8th, 9th and 10th of May, Mothers Day Weekend. I'm gonna try to ride in for the day on Saturday, but not too sure if we'll be able to make it for the whole weekend. ]

Well "POOP" I won't be able to make it. I am 61 and still am lucky enough to have my mom. Also my dad is still with us. I will be down with her for mothers day.

Well, shoot, Ken...there's an easy fix for that. What could be a more thoughtful Mother's Day gift than to put her on the back of your bike and bring her to the gathering?

No excuses Ken! Mom can ride pillion with you and Gail can haul Dad along. Dee and I will be celebrating our 24th that weekend (May 11th) and we are thinking about making the gathering a part of it. As long as I am not unemployed and broke.

Getting mom on my bike!!!!! Now that is funny. Gas will be $.50 a gallon before that would happen. When I was 16 and had a Honda 150 neither one of them would get on the back now in there 80s I don't think that they would be able to climb on even if they wanted to. so I guess I will just have to set my sights on the fall gathering again. Thank's to all of you for the good suggestion but it just won't happen.

I forgot to mention how much it sucks to make adult decisions. I don't make to many of them.

Re: Spring Gathering 09?

Will you miss you all this year, getting married in June and every weekend in May will be devoted to preparations for the big day. Hope the '09 gathering is a great time as usual and will hopefully see you in 2010 with my new bride!

What a waste. Already got your priorities all wrong!

Wish I could make it but that's a working weekend for me.
