You are quite welcome Bud. Glad you enjoyed the post and I have found that many people love reading about life experiencies.

Jeff you reprobate, you really know how to sit up and beg. You know it would be impossible to take Tricky along to meet old friends as he would scare them off never to visit again. Maybe you and I could sneak up for a visit.

Yes Mark "surely tricks learned only by hard experience" that pretty much sets the path for all of us no matter what the occupation.

Thanks Randal for all your nice replies............Ken

Ken,
What a great post. There are things in life that sneak into the very fabric of who you are, who you become, and what you do; it is obvious that working with wood (in its most primal sense) is a big part of their lives. Thanks for the wonderful story!

Ally

Re: Mels Portable Sawmill in Nevada City.

I remeber the early 60's and staying with my Aunt and Uncle up in French Gulch outside of Redding and watching the constant flow of logging trucks heading out of the Shasta Cascades to the various mills in the area. Then fast foward to 2006 when Lyn and I were on her first cross country ride and she watched her first tree being felled - and was amazed!

Great story Ken - Thanks for bringing back such great memories!

Cheers!
