END OF SUMMER PASHNIT FORUM GATHERING BBQ
Dual-Sport, Off-Road & Street Bikes Welcome!!

When: October 29th & 30th, 2005
Where: Sopiago Springs Resort, Hwy 88 & North-South Rd, near Pioneer, CA - Amador Co. elevation 4500 ft.
Starts: Arrive Saturday anytime - stay the weekend
Food: Bring some chips/dip/soda/potato salad/cookies/ice, etc at will
Cost: $10 donation we'll do again to cover food, that worked out good, use paypal link, or just give when you get there
Camping $10 donation to the owner of the property, RV or tent
Requirements: Post here to let me know you're coming, camping, what food you're bringing (I like chocolate chip cookies btw ) to the BBQ so we can have a running count.

BBQ when?: Main BBQ all together is Oct 29, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, 12-5pm

---------------------------------------

Well, you had fun at the last one, and quite a few folks showed up, so we're going to do it again.

My partner Tim (the other Tim/fellow tour guide) has graciously offered the used of his property in the Sierra Nevada Mtns for us to use. He has a (soon be open) motorcycle campground that is dirtbike orientated on 150 acres. He basically owns the entire valley.

This is an ALL bike CAMPING orientated gathering. Bring the streetbikes, cruisers, Harleys, dirtbikes, fifties, quads, dual sports and what not. Camp for the weekend if you like or just stay for the afternoon. (Huh? What's that a question already? Of course you don't have to camp, there is lodging nearby.

For the dirtbikes, Tim has a professional dirt track built into the side of a mountain. That alone is worth the trip! There is also a motocross and hare scrambles type trail thru the 150 acre property.

For the streetbikes, you've probably figured out by now this region is a utopian place of motorcycle bliss. Check out the Pashnit Roads site to check out the area roads, main ones, mtn passes, and surrounding paved goat trails.

CAMPERS: Our host property has room for large RV's, FunMovers, Camping trailers and other assorted large vehicles. There are probably 20-30 camping spaces. If you plan to camp, trailer up your dirtbikes/quads, or use up a camping space, please contribute an extra $10 to the owner for allowing this event on his private property.

Pics of the playground? What kind of campground is it (pit toilets, running water, fire pits etc)? Really would like to hit this one too...I'm working toward a kitchen pass and saving change.

Good question. It's actually an old campground from the 70's I think, built atop an old logging camp. There are places to pull in full size RV's, FunMovers, & trailers. Just like a normal camground. Normal flush toilets. Volleyball courts, etc. Not sure if the pool works. Technically, it is not open to the public as of yet.

Re: The End of Summer Pashnit Gathering Thread - October 29th

Somebody help me, I'm in shock!

I was checking the calender for the days this one hits plus see if there are any conflicts and my bride asked what I was doing. I explained the event plus location, that it would be a camp out deal for moto mutts just like me. Get this....she said "You probably should get some bike luggage to carry your gear." Boy!!!...do I feel dizzy.

She gives consent and says I should buy luggage too? If you are half as blessed as I am, with your bride, you are fortunate indeed. I am very hyped up right now (not kidding). Only thing that could make this better is if my lady can come along (Tim, hot showers?). Gotta go start a thread about good hard luggage for a GS...TTYL.

Tim, when you say to contribute a little extra to the owner. Do you mean pay him directly or include it with payment to pashnit through paypal? Another question, should I bring the barbecue or will there be something allready there? Though my wife Cyndi very much enjoyed the last one she is going to sit this one out. So count me in for 1, I will probably camp there.

I get to act as the treasurer on all this stuff. No worries there. How to pay, either one will work Don. It's pretty informal on that end. Not everyone is hip on the paypal stuff. 80% of the folks that came in July just handed me a few bucks instead of the paypal thing. The paypal ahead of time is good, b/c that's what paid for all the food I brought, which I'll be doing again. I'll bring the hamburgers/hot dogs/buns, etc.

And on the BBQ- finally relented, and going to use this as an excuse to buy a grill since we'll probably do these with a degree of regularity, so I'll be bringing one for Saturday afternoon. Would we need two? Possibly.

Well I will wait and see what the turn out is going to be before I commit to bringing a barbecue. I am hoping to have my new DRZ by October, so I might be bringing two bikes with me.
