Re: 8 days, 7 States, 5 National Parks
This is the story of my Motorcycle Journey at the end of June 2005.
This was originated as a ride to Glacier National Park. Since I was going that way I decided to throw in a few other National Parks along the way. I had planned for a 7-10 day ride. A new set of Metzler Tourances were fitted on the 04 Vstrom. It started the journey out with 17,155 miles on the odo. Here was my initial travel itinerary… Day 1 – Home (SF Bay area) to Bridgeport, CA Day 2 – Bridgeport, CA to Zion UT. Day 3 – Zion, UT to Flaming Gorge, UT/WY to Grand Teton’s Nat Park, WY. Day 4 – Grand Teton’s thru Yellowstone Park, and to Glacier National Park, MT Day 5 – Glacier Park, MT thru Idaho (93 to12 to 95) to Weiser ID. Day 6 – Weiser, ID to Silverton, OR (visit the relatives) Day 7 – Silverton, OR to Anderson, CA (visit relatives) Day 8 – Anderson, CA to Home Here’s how the trip went down… Monday, June 20’th… I left home about 10am. This is from the San Jose, CA area.

Re: 8 days, 7 States, 5 National Parks
As usual, Hwy 108 was a blast! Be sure to watch for gravel debris on some corners.
In fact, I stopped to check when I met up to a downed Harley rider. This was just before the Dardanelle area. There was another vehicle already stopped there and the rider said he was OK. They were trying to straighten his front wheel enough to allow him to ride it back. I continued on. Along the way from the top of 108 down I liked the look of this rock formation so I rode out on it and took some pic’s. Here’s one.

Re: 8 days, 7 States, 5 National Parks
I followed Hwy 108 to where it ends on Hwy 395 then turned South to Bridgeport.
Just before 108 ends in Hwy 395 you pass the Marine Winter Training facility and get this great scene…

Re: 8 days, 7 States, 5 National Parks
At Bridgeport I refueled and bought a small Pizza and a couple beers (to go)
I then rode the short dirt road to one of the local natural hot springs. I spent this first night at Travertine Hot Springs with a nice view of the Mtn’s above Twin Lakes.

Re: 8 days, 7 States, 5 National Parks
You can see the hot tubs at the end of the formation in the picture below.
(there's a guy standing on top of the formation) It is a very unique geo-physical formation. The Hot water travels down the top of the formation in a small channel about 1-2 inches wide and deep. Pizza, beer and soaking in natural hot springs… this is a good start! It was a relatively short day at 239 miles
