Thirsty Scousers part one
..or folk who live in Liverpool to the uninitiated - they caused this ......
http://history.powys.org.uk/school1/.../flooded.shtml So I went to have a look ....... A few photos ....... Check the weather before leaving home ........ ![]() Many hours spent programming my very expensive GPS ....... ![]() A cracking route to take [ apart from the motorway ] , as I left early and virtually had the roads to myself ........... right the way there - brilliant fun !! Upon arrival , I took a few snaps , then rode around Lake Vyrnwy - had to be a tad careful as in some places the road was slippery , but I managed ok ...... ![]() Very pretty in this area ........ ![]() There is a very impressive pointed tower which rises out of the waters of Lake Vyrnwy some distance from the dam. It looks like part of a fairytale castle, and it is linked to the shore by an arched bridge. This is the 'straining tower', which is where the water leaves the lake at the start of a journey along an aqueduct and pipeline to Liverpool, around 70 miles away. It is called a straining tower because the water first passes through a fine metal mesh to filter or strain out material in the water. The tower stands in over 15m (50ft) deep water and is over 48m (160ft) high, so much of the structure is hidden underwater. ![]() ![]() Water feature ......... ![]() The Pathfinder .......... ![]() Part two to follow .......

The Pathfinder is currently basking in the glory of a million dead flies and other assorted insects after todays run out . Last time I was in Fort William [ 2004 on my last 1100 RT ] , I too experienced the inclement weather of which you speak !! Steve
