Lets Eat Morning Thunder, Quincy CA

Great breakfast cafe. After you ride Oroville Quincy Highway or LaPorte Road, you will be ready to fill up!

Very good dark coffee that will have your motor running in no time. Good menu with some variations on the traditional stuff that are really worth trying.

Super attentive pleasant staff.

This place would be jammed 24hrs a day if it was in Sac or SF.

To get there: It's in downtown Quincy on the WEST bound one-way street, one block or so north of the courthouse. Or just ask.

Another vote for Morning Thunder in Quincy! Also, Morning Thunder in Chico (started by the same couple that had Quincy...divorce, marriage then another divorce followed by a sale to a great young lady, Dee who runs a great ship. Ate there this morning.

Re: Morning Thunder, Quincy CA

Well as a local, I can inform y'all of a couple things about Morning Thunder in Quincy. The place has been sold to a couple from Greenville. The previous owner has some ongoing legal issues which forced the sale. I took my son there for lunch last Saturday and was very disappointed. All new cook and wait staff for starters. The ambience of the place has really changed. And it seems to me that several things on the menu are way, and I mean W...A...Y... overpriced. For example, $2.25 for a single can of soda! We each had a cheesburger and, since they still don't have a deep fryer, a small scoop of home fried potatoes. I had a glass of iced tea and he had a Pepsi. Total bill was over $25. When I paid the check, the new owners were sitting there and asked my opinion of the place. I answered honestly and mentioned the pricing on soda. She told me she knows about the pricing on them, she knows its something that needs to be addressed, its been that way for 10 years, and then offered to give me another can to take with me. I declined the offer and on my way out, I realized they had made up new menus and if they wanted, they could have reset the price then. Sorry, but I have made up my mind, I'll not be going back.

Re: Morning Thunder, Quincy CA

Thanx for the heads up Ray. Other than Morning Thunder, a Chevron Station and stealing a cookie from your lovely bride on the way thru town, Quincy has/had no redeeming values what-so-ever.

I guess now it's a "run" to Quincy to steal a cookie and visit friends, rather than a B-Fast run.......

Re: Morning Thunder, Quincy CA

'Nother update on the current Morning Thunder situation. No I haven't been back and I don't think I ever will as long as the current owners are in charge there. Ladywulf was just telling me about a lady that recently went to MT for a meal during the High Sierra Music Festival here in Quincy. According to her, MT wasn't real busy, she sat down, ordered coffee and a meal. She got her coffee rather quickly but after about 30 minutes she asked where her food was. She was told it was coming right out. Another 20 minutes go by without any food being served to her, so she put a few dollars on the table for the coffee and walked out. One of the MT personnel chased her out onto the sidewalk and angrily asked where she thought she was going. She said she was leaving. The MT person said you haven't paid for your food! She: I didn't get ANY food!. The MT person then flipped her off!

Personally, I'd leave too after waiting for nearly an hour for my meal.
