They also report a subsequent check and CC usage at Fay Meyers (Honda MC dealer) in Denver on 8th Sept.
Sorry for the glass of cold water but it may be far from good news if the card is in use from other than the real owner. Please expedite the info as I am now on the edge of my seat waiting for it. Prayers for this rider...

I spoke to Missoula and Clearwater LEOs, looks like the CC charge from Fay Meyers on 9/8 was actually 9/1 and it was automated.

I am heading out now, I will be in ID tonight and start searching in the morning.

Re: Rider Missing - Lolo Pass to W. Yellowstone

Hello to all...just a quick note of introduction as this is my first post. I'm a long time rider who especially enjoys long haul touring. No ironbutt here but love to pack up and be gone for a few weeks at a time...especially back to the West to escape hot, humid East Texas in the summer. I'm not married to any particular brand as I find something interesting with about all of them. Hope to see some of you on the road sometime.

I wanted to add my post here because I have ridden the area between Missoula and Yellowstone/Tetons many times. Besides the probable route all are considering I used to also go a different way. I would stay on US93 to Salmon, then split off on to ID28 and head to Leadore, Rexburg, Driggs and Victor to come over Teton Pass from the west into Jackson and then went north to YNP. That is a great ride and the gentleman on the Wing may very well have made that choice.

Re: Rider Missing - Lolo Pass to W. Yellowstone

Update as of 9/11.

There is little new news at this point. The Walla Walla Police Department is trying to access bank information to see if Donald used a debit card to buy gas. We think it was unlikely he did, as his family said he usually used the United Mileage Plus credit card.

Clearwater County Sheriff Detective Rick Miller has confirmed what he told us before, that there was a gas buy in Orofino, ID on 8/30, a buy in Lolo, MT on 8/31. There was also a charge at Fay Myers Motorsports near Denver, but I have confirmed with them that this was an automated charge, likely for a part that was ordered or a payment on a service contract.

A couple people have called Clearwater County Sheriff and gotten either no information or one person was told that there was a charge on the credit card on 9/8. This is incorrect. We have information the card was canceled by Chase on 9/5.

The lead contact(s) on this now are Missoula County Sheriff, at 406-458-4810, or the Ravelli County Sheriff, at 406-363-3033. The Missoula Detective working the case is Rick Neulon. I spoke with him about an hour ago. He gets off work today at 5:00 pm and will not be working the rest of the weekend. Any calls should go to the Main number for the Sheriff. The Ravelli County Detective who has been briefed is Det. Jay Hudson. He is a rider and knows these roads well.

My cell number is 509-240-0178, however I do not expect to have good service in Montana. I bought a prepaid Verizon phone but have not activated it yet. At this point, email or this forum is probably the best way to get in touch, although I am not sure what my internet access will be. Email is: alansmithee@gmail.com

Thanks to Joe North from the ST Owner's forum, who has cross posted word of this, and to the others who have contacted me, and to anyone else who is helping spread the word. Thanks all for your concern. We are not optimistic of a good outcome at this point, but want to know what happened.

Thank you David. Can't begin to imagine how tough this is on you and your clan. I will be on prayer patrol for y'all.

Re: Rider Missing - Lolo Pass to W. Yellowstone

I checked on spreading the word with area pilots with a friend who's a private pilot but, according to them, there doesn't seem to be the same type of networking amongst pilots as amongst motorcyclists. I have another pilot friend I'm checking with as well to see if they can give any suggestions for contacting pilots in the Montana area.

EDIT: More info on pilots in Montana.....

My friend suggested looking for the Montana Pilots Association (why didn't I think of that). Here's the website:
http://www.montanapilots.org/mpaofficersa.html

I've sent an email to the president with links to the st-owners and the pashnit threads and will keep y'all posted.

Thank you all. We're off for Montana now.

If anyone knows anyone who belongs to the GWRRA, a post on their forum would help spread the word.

Re: Rider Missing - Lolo Pass to W. Yellowstone

From the st owners site. Looks like there might be some info to be had at a Helena Montana hospital. Info has been passed on to the families.

hi all i am from another forum and saw a post from a fellow member about the search for missing motorcyclist donald masters. he rang hostpitals and the hostpital at helena mount (mt) seem to have some info which they would not tell him unless he was from the police. dont know where helena mt is as i am from the uk. please keep the other forums updated. all our thoughts are with him and his family. ps regardless of what we ride we should always lookout for one another

Another update

We had a guy talking to a sheriff and he called the Helena, MT hospital and they said no record of Donald so that lead did not pan out. The effort is appreciated of course.
